Afternoon,
My dentist prescribed me some pain killers yesterday (only took them for one day) and am now done with them. My question is this, how many days after taking these pain meds should a guy wait before resume their everyday carry activity's? (I'm thinking 2-3 days) As I have read about folks that were involved in a clean shoot...were inevitably drug and alcohol tested...and then found themselves in a heap of trouble
Thanks

I've never heard anything about this. I'd find a legal advice group and ask.
If you have carry insurance they should have info on this situation.

Good call and thanks, hate taking that stuff in the first place

As someone that takes opiodes on a daily basis and will for the rest of my life, it is the same as drinking and carrying. Every state has different rules about it. I live in Alabama and I have checked the law thoroughly. As long as you are not "high", it is not unlawful to carry while taking a legally obtained pain med. The catch is that the call for being high is at the officer's discretion.
Basically, if you are legal to drive, you are legal to carry. There again, that is Alabama.

Thanks Alabusa,
In MN at least the way I understand it, any pain killer and or anti-anxiety meds such as valum or xanax while driving is basically the same as slamming a 6 or 8 pack and hopping in your truck, something I learned the hard way 30 plus years back. For me, no pills and or booze and I'm good to carry, other wise my weapons and I stay home
Thanks again my Friend?

Ken,

It is impossible to keep up with the gun laws in every state.  I would recommend calling your local LEO and asking them about the nuances of the law concerning this topic. My Sheriff has been a lot of help in my research.

You're more than welcome, Friend!

Thanks Bret, 10 plus years ago. I started having severe anxiety / panic attacks, which were so debilitating, I could barely leave the house, thus my MD put me on Valium / Xanax and or other crap meds. I did carry throughout that time without thinking twice, or considering the potential consequences if things were to have gone south. Looking back on it,  I not only feel Blessed I was heeled from those issues, but also had no bigger problems. Ultimately, I wouldn't take those meds again if they gave me a bucket of them. In the end (at least for me) life is hard, trying sucks, and God is good, or at least that's the way I see it 😊
