Well, this took way longer than it should have but I picked up the LAR Grizzly with the new 10 mm Magnum conversion barrel yesterday.

They said the reamer would take 12-13 weeks to get into production and I finally received it 17 weeks later.  It was a 10mm Auto reamer instead of the magnum.  I sent it back and it took 5 more weeks to get the right one.

By that time my Gunsmith had taken another job and closed his shop.  He owed me a favor so he said he would work it in somehow.  Anyway I picked it up from him yesterday and he though everything lookd like a go, even the 45 Win Mag Magazines seem to work without any mods.  He did not fire it though.

Here it is with the 45 Win mag barrel, the reamer, a 45 WM round, and a 10mm mag round.  Both barrels are 6 1/2" long.

Wow that's awesome Beemer!  Hope the 10mm runs well as it should

Nice!!!

I have a couple of spare 10mm Grizzly barrels here......I should probably ream them to 10mm Magnum.
I think I have a 5.4", 6.5" and two 8 inchers.

PTG.

No wonder the reamer was wrong and took longer than expected.

I will have to agree with you.

Even after I sent them a picture of the wrong reamer they would not return my calls.  Finally, I got in touch with a someone handling customer service who told me he just started two weeks before and he got the ball rolling.  I had the correct reamer in 10 days thanks to him.

Pacific Tool and Gauge was the only compny who would sell to me and take my order.  The other companies were so far out on delivery they would not take any small orders from buyers who are not steady customers.

I have dealt with Clymer before and they are good to deal with.

That?s odd. I had no problem ordering a custom reamer from Manson. They were happy to help and actually made some suggestions for adjustments I had overlooked.

At one time, PTG made good stuff.  That all went away about 15 years ago.
It's a complete crap-shoot what you're going to get from them these days.

Man-oh-man, how I wish IMI or Magnum Research would offer a Desert Eagle in 10mm Magnum.

Start with a 6-in barrel as standard, then offer an optional 10-in hunting barrel like they did with the .357 & .44 Mag Deagles.

Mag capacity could probably get close to 9-rds, or at least more than with their .44Mag and 50AE models.
The 10mm AUTO ...
When you're finally serious about stopping power.

I had one and a friend had one both in .45 Win mag ( he had conversion kits) and it was pretty impractical... heavy, big in the frame and not accurate enough (to me) for field use.

We both had reliability issues and I was never comfortable with the WM brass and full power loads so I made my own brass from .308.

I was happy to get rid of it. My buddy's .45 (he had .357 and 10mm conversions for it also) was disused also and wound up a safe queen till he passed away and AFAIK it wound up sold to a pawn shop by his heirs.
I can think of a half dozen revolvers I'd have before a Grizz.

My LAR Grizzly has been with me for many years.  My LAR has many conversions among my favorites are to the 10mm and the .357 remington mag.  The .45 win mag has comforted me in brown bear country here in Wyoming.

BEEMER!

I have to say that the LAR Grizzly is far from my favorite pistol to shoot but they are a fine and well made firearm.  Accuracy in my opinion is very good.  I have to say that I can shoot big bore magnum revolvers better but I feel that is more me than the firearm.

I have had a S&W 610 ever since Smith's first run and I thought long and hard about converting it to 10mm Mag but it is one of my favorite reolvers to shoot and I decided to leave it as it is.

I have not shot the LAR 10mm Mag yet.  The snow has just melted off here and the ground is still froze and it ranges from icy, to sloppy, to having water standing so I'm waiting for things to get better.

Congratulations glad you finally got it!

I'm interested to see how this turns out. I was POed in the 90's when LAR up and quit part support for all handguns. My 45 WM needed a barrel after I ported the factory barrel and then the barrel developed a hump between the ports.  I found a used barrel 10 years later and it is now up and running.
Tony, I could be talked into 1 of your surplus barrels
Jim B, where in WY??  We might be close.

I wish they'd offer one in 45 Win Mag, but the one person I talked to, who I do believe was from the company, said it was super unlikely to ever happen.  I really like 45 Win Mag and it at least was a lot cheaper to shoot than some of the other cartridges they chamber the DE in.  It isn't breaking my heart, though.
