Lee Undersize die shaving brass off of case, not good

I just bought a Lee "U" die for processing some mixed headstamp cases. Some which show the glock bulge. I heard this would do a good job of removing the bulge. Im guessing about 10-20% of the cases were shot through a glock, because after running it through the "U" die, the results were less than desired. The die shaves off a crescent shaped piece of brass, shaped about 1/2 the circumference of the case. The case is left with a very clear ridge you can see in the pics, you can easily catch your nail on it. I would contact Lee, bu they have removed their phone number off the website.
Any thoughts?

This has been an ingoing topic....

True glock smiled cases should be thrown away. BUT MOST FOLKS dont know what they are seeing and call a normal Bulged case will Reform To factory spec With a pass thru any quality re sizing die.

A smiled case is partially SHEARED AND WILL LIKLEY FAIL.

Im not a large LEE fan so cannot comment to your die choice as proper of not.

Half moons and clear ridges left in the case sounds like a smile, not a bulge and should go in the bad brass bin. A case with just a bulge will not exhibit these characteristics.

There is more than one 10mm barrel that will accommodate a smile, and more than a few reloader's who think that they can match Underwood ballistics, and then some. They were smart to leave their brass on the range...

I'd say that the Lee die is a good template for tossing bad brass. Consider yourself lucky to have it.

There are a LOT of 10mm loads which essentially ruin the brass for reloading...bulge being one issue, expanded primer cups being another. People love to push this round, and there's enough case capacity and powder options out there to get way beyond what was ever intended. I liberally discard 10mm brass for a wide variety of reasons, and never use anyone else's fired brass.

Hello
I tried the LEE Deluxe Turret press for general purpose handgun loading and have grown fond of it.. works well.  However having tried LEE dies.. not so much.  I found the LEE sizing dies to over size the brass, producing rather ugly loads.  I went to the Hornady sizing die for .40 and 10mm and haven't looked back. These dies nicely size brass back to factory specs..  I also use the Redding GRX sizing die, which is a carbide pass through sizing operation.. quick and easy. I usually do this first.. If you own a Glock, 'bulged' brass is normal and unavoidable especially with the warmer loads. However a SMILE is a no-go.. Those get tossed.. Having shot these that are not SMILED, brass is delegated to 'range loads' similar to the Federal American Eagle.. I use new brass for the warmer stuff..  Anyway, I've had zero issues with this equipment..
WHY DO THEY CALL IT COMMON SENSE WHEN IT IS SO UNCOMMON?

Yep, Having used 10mm brass as shot through many different chambers, I have seen many bulges rounded and have used the LEE FCD with its guts removed as a pass through sizer.
This step has proved to be very useful to pass the case gauge for reloading and reliable feeding.  Very uniform sizing even the case head and extractor rims.
I have used RCBS 10mm dies since before the 40S&W was conceived so the 10mm crimp die didn't allow proper crimps for the 40S&W.  However I did find a 40S&W taper crimp die to add to my process.

As mentioned a distinct line near the extractor cut is a "Smile Line" and DO NOT recommend reuse of brass in that condition.
