Hello everyone. This maybe old news to some, but if it is new for you, I hope you think it is good.
Swift bullets has just released their new 10mm bullets. One in 180gr and the other in 200gr.
These are not cheap as they are premium bullets. They are the Aframe design. They are tough and retain almost all their weight. They expand well and will work well for hogs and deer. But I would like to see how they will perform on larger game. Shots most likely will have to be kept at 50yds or closer. I have been able to shoot decent groups at 100,,, but shooting an animal at that distance is a different matter. Did we need a different or better bullet? I strongly felt so.
Federal ordered Some of these to load, but inquiring of such, I was told that it might be next year before the ammo is released.  Not sure how good my source is, and in one respect, I might can understand, since there has to be load development and a possibility of reduced workers or whatever associated with the  Covina crap. Hopefully not so. Other info I was given was that Federal was going to load the 200gr first.  We will see.
Anyway I look forward to handloading and testing the said bullets. I have used Swift's bullets in other calibers and the results were stellar.
I use a semi auto myself, but considered some people that I know with revolvers thinking of loading them long, for an increase in velocity.

I'm about ready to tackle a new rifle project for deer hunting here in lower MI, and that 180 might just be the ticket.

Do you have pics of that bullet?

I should have posted the website. The bullets are at the bottom of the page where the revolver bullets are  please note the length of the bullets. This can make a difference if you are attempting to extrapolate a load from a different bullet  manufacture. Brad is working on loads the next few days with powders on hand. I did tell him that Aa#9 is one of the better powders plus Vhitavouri N105. If need be we can move load info to another part of the forum thanks guys. BTW I do hope these bullets will be a game changer for those of us that want to hunt with the 10mm

I started asking them to make one over a year ago was hoping for a 200 and a 210 grain ones. Was told they would think about it. Saw on their website a few weeks ago that they were out. Yes they are pricey but trying to find another cheaper source for them. Definitely want to try them on Texas hogs!

I am glad others have ask about having a 10mm bullet to our availability. Suggestions are sometimes rejected out right and sometimes considered. What helps us is, a major manufacturer will pick up that said bullet and start loading it. Federal has purchased 100,000 of the 10mm with plans to load. I was told the 200gr will come out first. When????  I cannot get an answer. Let's stop and remember that load testing will have to take place, so next year? Maybe an unveiling at the shot show if they have one this coming year.
Hmmmm a virtual shot show?
As far as a hunting bullet, I believe this one will be hard to beat. I am anxious to get some and do some testing.
Cost,,,,, Yes they are not cheap but with all things considered, such as (here in Texas) either a lease, or owning property, plus money spent on gas, food, sometimes Motel, or a spot to park a Travel trailer, or extra fuel to get it to a lease,  a good pistol,,,,,,, they are not so bad. Now I certainly do not practice or play with them. That would be foolish for me personally.
I also know that it cost a lot of money and time to make a bullet, and bring it into production.
I never want to hear about someone having bullet failure. Loosing any animal, to bullet failure would be very disappointing. Be it a trophy, a grandchild's first, or whatever. If I was to choose a bullet in 100mm to hunt larger game, and especially considering a Bear,,,, well a Swift Aframe is the choice.
I have seen first hand what the Aframe does in other calibers. It works.
So I am ready to see what this 10mm bullet will do. If it performs like the rest of the Aframes, no problems. I will keep you all informed as much as I can on this. Thank you.

Did you find another source besides Swift?

Ramjet

I ordered two boxes to try in my 9" & 7" glocks then if they shoot accurately I will use them in my upcoming whitetail hunt.

$1.22 each for JHP 10mm bullets!!!?  That will be expensive factory ammo.

Kenk

Way expensive, think I'll stick with Underwood's  200gr XTP for this years hunt

I agree they are pricey and maybe this is last two boxes I buy but what the heck May as well do some comparative testing. I like lead WFN or the LFN GC 200 grain as well as the XTP but they be worth a try. The. Again maybe not we will see. My guess is they are making them at high volume so the cost is higher.

Harleycolt

Did you order them from Swift?

As mentioned... pricey compared to other known working bullets as the XTP heads are about .30 per
Would like to see these vs the XTP of same weight.
The XTP has been a great bullet for hunting.
