I've been handgun hunting for over 40 years with everything from a .22 to a .454 Casull. They all have their pros and cons. 20 years ago I stumbled across the .41mag and have loved the round since. I've taken everything from a book Fallow Deer to 320lb Texas hog with it. I love to handload and shoot the gun but my favorite hunting load is the Winchester 240gr Platinum Tip. The accuracy out of my stainless Ruger Redhawk 7.5" is amazing. Top that with a 2X Leopold Pistol Scope and it is a potent hunting firearm. I always wanted a 4" version of the same gun but the shortest available at the time was the 5.5". I found one at a reasonable price and cut and re-crowned the barrel to 4". I carry that gun in a across the chest holster anytime I am in the woods. It too loves the Winchester load.
I purchased my first 10mm about 15 years ago when I shot and subsequently purchased a buddies Colt Delta Elite Gold Cup. I was sold on the 10mm and now own 2 others. A S&W 1066 and a Springfield XDM-10 4.5. They shoot great and I recently purchased a set of dies for my Dillon Square Deal B. I recently had a birthday where I received 1000 once fired cases and two 250ct boxes of 150gr Norma JHPs and one 250ct box of 135gr Norma JHPs. I have been reading some of the reloading information in this and a couple of other forums and since I already have Blue Dot and Unique I will probably try them first. I did not buy the 10mm's for hunting, at least not 4 legged animals, but I am not opposed to doing so. If I do I will more than likely use bullets in the 180+gr range. I have several boxes of Factory ammo with those grain weights that are very accurate.
What calibers/guns do you prefer hunting with?

Personally, I like Underwood's 180gr bonded Gold Dot, or their 200gr XTP in 10mm for MN Whitetail. For their size, 100 - 275, or a bit bigger, these work awesome.
Thanks

So far, I've shot Wild Hogs with 5.7x28mm & 22WMR; both have taken them down. Recently I picked up a 10mm and I have 175 & 180 grain rounds.  I installed HOGUE grips, put it on a leash in a Thigh Holster.

my .357 Dan Wesson 15-2 and my S&W 629 .44 were my main hunting handguns for many years. about 5 years ago I got my first 10mm pistol. now the revolvers are safe queens.

I use my Springfield XDm 10 4.5 OSP with handloaded 155gr XTPs. They have proven to be very potent medicine on deer and hogs.

FN in MT237

Started in the late 60's with a M-24 Smith in .44 Spcl. Shot a few deer.

1980's started up again with a 6" M-57 in .41 mag. Took a nice 15" antelope my first time out.

Then a long dry spell as I got all wound up with rifles. Finally bought a Freedom Arms M-83, 7.5" in .454 Cas with a .45 Colt aux cylinder. Hoping to get an elk. When I finally got a chance I ended up using
my old 6.5" Smith M-29 which worked fine. Keith slug over 22.0 of 2400.

in the meantime got older, had a mild stroke, left arm isn't working well so no more handguns, short oof maybe for gophers.

This has been my primary hunting pistol for a couple of years now. Franken build Glock 20 long slide.

I also have a Glock 21 long slide in 460 Rowland but have yet to kill anything with it.

A couple is other favorites are a classic S&W 57 in 41 mag with the 8-3/8" barrel and a 657 hunter 7.5". The model 57 is the smoothest and most accurate revolver I've ever owned.

I also have a Ruger Super Redhawk in 454 Casull. It's a handful but absolutely stomps deer and hogs.

I recently picked up a S&W 610 6-1/2" that I bought an extra cylinder for to punch out to 10mm magnum.

Prior to S&W releasing the 610 again, I had my GP100 converted to 10mm.

And last but not least, there's this. TC Encore in 260 Remington.

Forgot about this one. It's currently being built up to replace the Glock 20 long slide.
