My 200 Gold Dot bullets arrived from RMR early enough to cobble together a few loads and head to the range with the chronograph.

I used my RCBS Little Dandy measure because it's very consistent with BE-86 and I often find a rotor that just works.  But your rotors probably drop different amounts than mine so check it twice.  All loads used once fired Starline brass with Federal 150 primers.  Chrono was approximately 10' from the muzzle, listed velocity is the average for five rounds.

Load #1 200gr Gold Dot / 7.5 gr BE-86 / Rotor #12
Ruger SR1911 5" 1125 fps
Ruger GP-100 3"  1073 fps

Load #2 200gr Gold Dot / 8.1gr BE-86 / Rotor #13
Ruger SR1911 5" 1189 fps
Ruger GP-100 3"  1118 fps

Load #3 200gr WFN from an NOE mold / 7.5gr BE-86 / Rotor #12
Ruger SR1911 5"  1183 fps
Ruger GP-100 3"  1136 fps

Load #4 200gr NOE WFN / 8.1gr BE-86 / Rotor #13
Ruger SR1911 5"  1248 fps
Ruger GP-100 3"  1185 fps

Load #5 170gr Lee TC / 6.0 gr Unique / Rotor #13
Ruger SR1911 5"  1061fps
Ruger GP-100 3"    978fps
This last load was me looking for a decent 10mm Special (.40 S&W) load that functions in the SR1911 and moonclipped in the GP-100 but that is pleasant and cheap to shoot.  Plus one of the RO's where I shoot IDPAish matches said he had never heard a pistol as loud as my 10mm at the last match I attended.  :))

All loads produced adequate accuracy with me shooting at a 4" target at @20' lined up with the chrono.   All primers looked like factory ammo, not flattened with deep firing pin indents.

I plan on loading 50 rounds of the Gold Dot over 8.1 gr of BE-86 and shooting it for accuracy.  I'll also load 50 of the NOE over 7.5gr BE-86 as the velocity of both loads is probably right at 1,200 fps at the muzzle from the 1911.   Either load is probably overkill here East of the Mississippi.

Very nice Rick, I know I liked the 200Gr GD over 8.3 grains of BE-86 as 8.4 was showing 1237 fps from my 1006 5"

I'm glad that the members here had the opportunity to buy these GoldDots. Probably the last time you'll see that kind of pricing in quantity for this bullet. I just received my last order before they sold out and I'm well stocked for defensive billets for years. Those numbers look pretty good. I don't think you'll really need to push the GoldDot very hard. I have mine traveling close to 1250 FPS but looking to back down to right around 1200 FPS. I have some of the 200 gr NOE bullets on order. I will be looking to push those as close to 1300 as I can safely using longshot as I have 9 pounds of it.

For my use I think the 180gr GD is a better fit.  But I couldn't pass up buying 250 of the 200gr at this price. I figure 50 for load development then 200 loaded and stored for future need.

It is nice that they appear to hit where my NOE WFN hits.  That means as long as I can scrounge lead I'll have practice and hunting ammo while saving the jhp for bipedal varmints
