Paul Harrel has his own very unique style and I don't always agree with his conclusions.  However, generally find his material informative and interesting (just jump forward over his boring, redundant stuff).

Interesting documentation of different 10mm loads.  Nothing groundbreaking, just reinforcement of a lot of the material covered here.  Still interesting from additional data points perspective.

Thanks Rojo, Paul, as always is a bit long winded, but still enjoy his videos

Hahaha...26 minutes long! I saw that and just closed the window.

Lol, Paul sure likes those potentially unfamiliar words, I'm a pretty educated guy, yet he stumps me on certain words on a regular basis

You can get through it in about 6 minutes.  Use 2X playback speed, and skip the chronograph call-outs and accuracy shooting exercise, just go to the results discussions after each of those sections.

Overall, a decent video.  I would like to see him re-do his meat target with the usual pork ribs instead of beef ribs though.

^Exactly.....

What's the difference? I'm in my third decade of being a vegetarian, so I don't know a lot about ribs.

Kenk

All I know is that they can be incredibly messy

The whole premise of the "meat" targets is to simulate damage against human:
-heavy clothing (multiple layers), pork chop ("pectoral muscle"), ribs, oranges ("simulated lung tissue"), etc.
Harrell usually uses pork ribs in his simulations as they're similar in size and mass to human.
In this video he used beef ribs which are much bigger, heavier, stronger than pork.

Although both taste good, for bbq personally prefer pork.

To add on to Rojo27's excellent response, beef ribs simulate hunting big game.  But I don't use a 10mm for hunting.

Well that's interesting. I think it's bad science, but it's interesting. The number of variables in that experiment is...er...large.

I spent a lot of time studying terminal ballistics, and I came across a LOT of crackpot theories supported by junk science, meaningless and misleading statistics (anyone remember the book 'One Shot Stops'?) and anecdotal evidence...oh, don't forget the inevitable article by a physician who uses their MD for credibility, despite having little expertise in gunshot wounds and no expertise in ballistics. In fact the only studies I've seen that would pass peer review in any scientific discipline came from the FBI, and they were pretty dry reading.

My conclusion, after reading everything I could find on the subject for years, was pretty unexciting: Pick the largest caliber with which you can rapid-fire at least three rounds accurately. Then pick the heaviest expanding bullet of any reputable make that will reliably function in your weapon. You're done, and need not ever think about ammo again unless the cartridge you chose goes out of production.

Spot on.  It's terrible science.  Way to many uncontrolled variables.

Which, ironically, is kinda my frustration.  It was already bad science with too many variables, and then several hundred more were added when he swapped beef ribs for pork.

I also agree that the ability to shoot accurately and quickly is more important than anything else.

Muskrat

Ya...seems like both junk science and a waste of food. I guess if that's what it takes to get people to watch your videos...

To be clear, I have no opinion on Paul Harrell...his videos are too long for me to watch, and the meat n' oranges bullet traps don't excite me so I basically ignore him. If he's someones favorite gun authority don't get upset with me...its just another viewpoint.

Well, I too prefer Pork
And I like mine with a nice Dry Rub, as opposed to most any Sauce   :P
So tell me again how Trump was worse then the 8 years before .... AND what came after HIM !
