Hit the jackpot today

I was at a friends house today delivering some 45 I had reloaded for him. He wanted me to see this gun and that gun so we went to his safe and he started pulling out boxes of projectiles saying he got them from a guy cheap and did I want them? I said yes and ended up with a pound of Hodgedon powder, large rifle primers, sierra 44 mag bullets, and about 4 other sierra rifle rounds but the real surprise was 303 British that he had like 400 rounds loaded. I found one with a date of 1967 so not that old but good rounds and very good brass. I could barely make it to the car. He was very happy I liked the stuff as I have given him lots of rounds for him and his kids. Kind of made my day.  Craig

One of the old Sierra bullets is a 168g JHP that I don't even remember but looked it up in my old Sierra load manual and it is in there with powder so old I don't have any of it on hand. I will need to dream up a load using Power Pistol sometime. I do like the odd old stuff to play with.  Craig
Editing to say I just found data at Alliants site for a 185g bullet that is close and uses Power Pistol at 9g max which is a lot hotter than I would load it.

Well I screwed up!! The Sierra 45 bullets were really 185g not 165 like I reported earlier. It's good as I have good data for the 185g on Alliants site. Still at 9.0g power pistol it is going to be hot and I will start at 8.0 at the most.   Craig

I hope you find this as funny as me!! I don't load much 45 except for friends and I had a box of 1000 230g bullets put away and a deal came along from a friend and I bought another 1000 230g FMJ thinking I had enough 45 to last the rest of my life. The other day I was loading 100 for a friend and I remembered I hadn't seen the other 1000 in a while.
Looked for a few days and today was looking a some cases of 38 and 10mm and one other box , you guessed it 230g 45. So I do have them after all. I will say all the cases look the same and I put in deep storage so not easy to find I guess. Craig
