Any thoughts on a cost effective, decent quality 165, or 180gr JHP In 10mm? Im currently loading 180gr XTP's, but am tiring of their expense. My intended use for these is unknown at this point, but never hurts to have a bunch made up, and on hand.
Thanks

Hey Ken, I use a lot of pull downs but they are scarce right now as is everything. These run around half price I think. Readily available in 165 and 180 when the are available. I use American Reloading but they have been out of most rounds since the virus hit.  Craig

The 180gr jhp Zero bullets are my testing analog for 180gr XTPs. They perform nearly identically. Others have tested them in ballistics gel and they seem to not hold together quite as well at upper end velocities, but they certainly hold together enough that I wouldn't want to be shot with one. They're quite a bit less expensive than XTPs.

Rocky Mountain Reloading, RMR Bullets, is another source for pull downs. You have to keep watching their website as they go in and out of availability.

Get on RMR and American Reloadings email lists and buy pull-downs when in stock.

I shoot about 8,000 Blue Bullets a year...165 and 200 grain. They're clean, accurate, and don't smell like burnt paint when you fire them. 165 grains are $75 per 900 count, 180 and 200 grains are a little bit more.

There's several other coated bullet manufactures that target the competitive shooting sports. I just tried Blue Bullet and liked them well enough to stick. Unfortunately they no longer offer free shipping, so I might shop around.

Evening Muskrat, do you normally  get the Round Nose Flat Point 165's, or something different? Looks like they are still offering free shipping on certain things
Thanks again!

Yes...that's what I shoot the most of. Though the "free shipping" is a bit of a bait and switch, as you're only getting 750 bullets for $70, verses 900 bullets for $75 if you leave the "free shipping" area. They used to offer free shipping for orders over $150, but that appears to only be valid for subscription purchases. Last time I put 2,700 bullets into my basket it said "weight based shipping". I haven't called them to verify if that's a web site issue and the shipping is free, or not. Probably worth a call, but I had a lot of other expenses so I put off restocking bullets for a bit.

Kenk

Yep, Weight Based Shipping, any idea what that cost would be? Sounds expensive : (

Waiting on their response regarding shipping cost

FWIW, I just bought 3000 9mm for my Mrs. from the Blue Bullets. The invoice said "weight based shipping" & as of now, it's free. They are to be delivered tomorrow.

Someone on here recommended Everglades Ammo. They produce a jacketed 180 HP and a 165 jacketed hp. Shipping is free. The only thing I cant answer is their web site is only listing lots of 100. I had gotten 500 of the 180's fairly cheaply back in March. They seem to shoot fairly well.
