It's in my top 3 favorite 10mm's along with my Witness stock II and Sig P220. That being said it is also very different from anything I have when it comes to recoil and handling. It's big beefy barrel and lockup system is almost a work of art. My original one had the infamous mag drop issues so I sent it in for repair. When I got it back I had no trouble with it until around the third or fourth time out to the range when the decock/safety started to come out. I called a different authorized repair center and sent it to them. They told me the first shop broke the frame and it was not repairable so they replaced it for free. I was impressed to say the least. The new one didn't have any issues straight out of the box plus had a steel guide rod and not plastic like the first one. I have since put a vortex venom red dot on it and it is an absolute blast to shoot.
Just my experience......

Thanks my Friend, this is the stuff I'm looking to learn.  I think the price will be right, as well as understanding it's a good weapon overall

I bought a Grand Power L40 10MM Long Slide. I owned it for a year never fired it. The Grand Power stayed in it's box. Last week I took it to the Range. I loaded it with my Bear Killer loads which are maximum hard cast powder coated 175 gr loads. This is a great handgun in every way. It has a great trigger functions 100%. The GP L40 has found a home.

As others have said, the biggest issue was the mag drop which only affected me if I was shooting about 1300 fps, higher or lower and it wouldn't do it. I finally got the repair done and it hasn't happened since. I truly think this is my favorite/best 10mm out of 7 or 8. I like it so much I bought another GP 40 in .40 caliber on GB.com for $300. I will eventually send it out to have the chamber reamed to 10mm.

The long slide version, that's five inches, right?  What is the standard barrel length?

What is cost & availability of magazines like?

grand power mags are pretty spendy as I recall.  But...THey are dimensionally identical to Witness magazines.  The DIY part there is drilling a hole where the mag catch on the grand power engages.

The standard P40 is a 4.25" barrel.  There are 8 standard and one P40L on Gunbroker right now.
