Tempting but not being milled for an optic means no go for me at that price.

I have to say I'm a little shocked they didn't introduce a standard 97B in 10mm first. Get the interest going and then offer the $2500 "custom" gun. A lot more people might have forked over $800-900, done a trigger job on a stock gun, and been just as happy.

Plus 8 or 9 is much more realistic, at least for someone like myself

Well it is better priced than the 3200 that was said at shot show.

Hmm let's think about this is it really Custom? Because the Kimber Super Jaegar and Dan Wesson Bruin is in the same price range.

Does this model come with a stainless steel guide rod?

I know you can purchase a stainless stell guiderod for the 45 but it was said to peen the steal on the inside, just to see if this was hear say I purchased one and after 50 rounds of winchester whitebox 45 there was a little mushrooming you can see under the magnifying glass. So I went back to the plastic guide rod.

I've always wondered if the 97 would be an appropriate platform for the 10mm. I have an SP-01 but I don't get along with it very well as the grip feels like a broom stick and the SA trigger is insanely light.

If you're a collector or just like unique stuff, I didn't think the price of that 97 was unreasonable, and it sold so at least one other person thought it was not too high. But for a LOT less than $2500 (less than half) you can get a Witness.

Not just any Witness either, but your choice of the the top of the line models.

I have shot a CZ-97 and a Witness Match back to back. Witness is a better gun.

I'm still a Witness fan.  My carry is a cz 2075 in 9mm, and its a good gun too.

I wish that CZ would come up. with a compact 10mm because CZ's always seem to be ultra reliable.  The compact Witness, not so much.

That's a surprise to hear. Was the one you had issues with polymer or steel? My steel compact in 10mm has always been 100% reliable.
