Once in awhile the ambidextrous thumb safetie on my Rock Ultra FS HC 10mm engages by itself after taking a shot. Is this something that any of you run into?, and if so, any suggestions on a fix for it.
Thanks

This is the reason I ride my strong hand thumb on the paddle safety. The problem is on a gun with an ambi safety the other side digs into my hand pretty badly.

My solution is to change them to a non-am I safety. I'm actually doing quite a bit of upfit work to my Rock Ultra this weekend.

Stay tuned. [emoji1303]

Hey Mike, do you have a link to the manufacture that makes that safety?
Thanks man!

Any 1911 thumb safety should work but they are not normally drop-in replacement and may need fitting for the sear engagement.
Wilson Combat is pretty popular.

Ken, is the stock safety loose enough to be bouncing up and catching due to recoil? Definitely not bumping it up yourself?

I know you're a lefty, like me. I think 5pins post was autocorrected and he was telling you to install a non ambidextrous safety.

I don't ride the safety on my 1911s as it stresses the connection between the 2 paddles and eventually they can get sloppy. The last ambi safety I installed was one of these, https://www.edbrown.com/product/ambisafety/  It does require proper fitting to the sear. I've used the Wilson Combat ambi safety in the past. It's a quality part, but the right paddle is a little smaller. The Brown is the same on both sides.

Afternoon Graybeard, the safety has a nice audible click when I switch it on an off. My concern, as you mentioned is that recoil may be causing this, and if so, the RIA will be removed from my carry rotation until it has been corrected. I will pay close attention next weekend when I'm out, and report back
Thanks again!

Ken if you carry yours I wouldn't recommend this safety as it will be easily clicked off but here it is.

I bought the single side extra wide one. It definitely has to be fitted.

I also put in a Fusion trigger,Harrison true radius sear and a Cylinder & Slide leaf spring and the trigger is VERY NICE now.

I'm having trouble fitting the Bar-Sto barrel though. I may have to send the gun to them for fitting because I don't want to mess up a $400 barrel.

If you talking to me Ken, do you need single side or ambi? Are you a leftie?

That is a wide thumb safety.  I mean I would have to take two steps before I could jump off the edge.

Ken, if you like the safety but it is too wide, just file it back and hit it with some cold blue.
