Unfortunately longer than that. My last ones took a couple of week less than a year.

Absolutely, these checks could be accomplished in two months at best; it's just plain silly the way this is done

I'm of the opinion they shouldn't be any more regulated than anything else bought on a 4473.

Should be able to walk in, pick one out, NICS check, pass, pay and walk out. There is no justification for anything else.

Have you thought about doing a form 1 to build your own,  approvals have been about 30 days.

I've looked into it a few times and I've never found a kit that I would trust. All of them seem to use inferior materials unless you have the ability to do your own machining and weld exotic metals.
