So in my RIA 52000 I used the Montana bullet works LBT 200gr wfn/coated (.402)

It has a meplat of .325", but due to its large meplat and ogive profile, it has to be seated fairly deep in my pistol

Now comes the next stage-- my new springfield osp wont properly chamber the same bullet set at the same seating depth so it clearly has a shorter throat than the RIA-- I'm worried about pushing the lbt wfn in much deeper so I'm looking at different bullets.

I see Montana has an "MP" 200 grain wfn that has a meplat of .300" and what looks to be a more gentle sloping ogive profile.

Has anyone tried these "mp 200gr wfn" bullets? Are they better suited to semi autos than the lbt style ones?

Last question is size-- I know that size is king in regards to leading, my bore measures out at .4005-.401" -- should I stick with the .402" for the m&p or you think the .401 would be ok at just .0005" over bore?

Texashogman, what COL are you loading to?  We have seen where the WNFP bullets (0.300" +) need to be seated at 1.242" to function more reliable for guns with tighter chambers to improve the tipping angle as the cartridge enters the chamber.  Be sure that you are not bulging the case while applying crimp or if the bullet's base is not pushing the case wider...

I dont have my data with me here, but I got lots of info from another member here when I did my load work up for my RIA.
The lbt 200 gr with the .325" meplat had to be seated really close to the start of the ogive to get it to freely "plunk" into the barrel chamber on that gun. I tried those loaded rounds in my osp and the slide wont fully close as the bullets are hitting the throat.
If you tried to tap the slide closed it still would not close, but when you racked the slide to eject it was super hard and would pull the bullet from the case and stick it in the barrel (obviously bad) ...I went home and made a dummy round for seating purposes with that bullet fir the new pistol, but that bullet seems like it's super deep in the case now.-- I thought a smaller meaplat/more tapered ogive bullet might be better suited to this pistol chamber/throat

I've been loading the MBW LBT bullet you are using ahead of 10 grains of Blue Dot. I have to seat them to 1.24 to function in multiple pistols. The last few rounds I would put into my magazines would bind a little. So, I switched to the MBW 200 grain NOE WFN-GC which has a .300 meplat. I'm seating them to 1.240 as well. (SAAMI specs for 10mm COAL run from 1.240-1.260)

I chronographed 10 shot strings through my STI Perfect 10 with each load fueled by 10 grains of Blue Dot. The average velocity for the MBW LBT is 1213 FPS while the 200 grain NOE clocked in at 1257 fps. The NOEs do not bind in my magazines and I get a little more velocity out of them. So, I'm stickin with them. I haven't tried the MBW MP bullets but thought I would share what info I had about MBW bullets.

Ok-- measured
The 200gr lbt with the .325" meplat is seated to 1.210" for my RIA
But in the osp I have to seat it to 1.195"

Has anyone compared gel tests with the different meplat bullets? I'm assuming slightly more penetration with the .300 but more tissue disruption with the .325 meplat bullets.

This load is for closer pistol hunting of deer possibly elk and a protection sidearm for mtn lion/ bear if needed

Look at the LBT LFN. Still plenty of frontal area but slightly smaller runs good in most guns.

Is that from beartooth? I've had issues with them in the past.
