In this climate of party in place I am loading all kinds of strange for me rounds. This is a box of 200g xtp I will put together as I have loading blocks loaded with 10mm brass ready to load and I need the blocks for other rounds. Once again Alliant doesn't have 200g listed on the net so I pulled out my Lyman 49th book and have all kinds of data. Will start with 6.3g Power Pistol and work up as needed. I think 7.3 is max in the 49th book. These numbers seem high to me but have been there before and I know 6.3 is a safe place to start. Any input will be nice.  Craig

Hornady lists a starting load of 6.0gr of Power Pistol @ 850fps and a max load of 7.6gr @ 1050fps, COAL is 1.260. I've noticed the Lyman 49th tends to be pretty conservative in their 10mm recipes.

Here is Hornady's data...

9.4 grains of Blue Dot under a 200 XTP gives me 1223 fps and tac-driver accuracy.

Well this is all something to think about. Lyman is at 6.0 starting to 7.1 max. I have found this data to be hot in the past but it is an old book I think I bought it because it had 10mm in it when I bought my first 10mm. I still think I will start at 6.3 and see how it goes. Craig

While I do test with many powders for 10mm, I will say I loaded my first 10mm cartridges with Blue Dot before printed data was out.
Yes it is amazing just how accurate loads with Blue Dot have been in many cartridges I have loaded starting with 44 Mag, 357 Mag 1978 and 10mm 1989...

Right back to making me wonder why Blue Dot is missing from the boutique 10mm factory loads...

It often gives the highest velocity and best accuracy of any officially published data, though published data doesn't seem to be much of a hick-up to the boutique loaders.

Got um done with 6.3 power pistol. Will shoot when I can but they will work fine.  Craig

Just finished about 60 180g jhp Montana Gold that I found in the shop. I loaded these at 9.0g with 9.3 being max with Power Pistol. I still have a couple hundred to load whenever. I may try aa9 as I have it and data.  Craig

I have just finished loading up 50 of these with blue dot at both 9.4 gn and 9.7 gn.  They were both very accurate.  I did not get a chance to Chrono them though so not sure about the velocity.   Did not see any over pressure signs either.
