I was able to pick up my fourth 10mm, a Kimber Super Jagare hours before NJ Governor Phil Murphy shut down the gun shops.

I had the chance to shoot it yesterday for the first time behind a friend's house at his range, These are my thoughts.

I sighted in at 30 yards with CCI 200 grain ammo. Initially we fired it at 5 yards, and the rounds were hitting low. I finally figured out this was most likely due to the Leupold Delta Point Pro sight which sits high on the gun. We moved back to 20 yards and it was better. I actually had to move the sight down a bit.

Initially fired Fiocchi 180 grain ammo. This ammo had a little kick to it. Dialed in for 20 yards and switched over to the CCI 200 grain. The gun was smooth shooting for a 10mm. The ports in the barrel / slide seemed to reduce muzzle flip, though regrettably they made the gun louder, or at least seemed to. I already have hearing issues but I doubled up on the ear protection.

The gun fired flawlessly for the 80 rounds I shot through it with both ammo types. Control was very good. The gun is a pleasure to shoot, and sometimes you forget you are shooting a 10mm until you see the hits on target at the outdoor range with cans and dirt flying. The action is butter smooth, as this is a Kimber Custom Shop option. I was able to hot old vegetable cans at 30 yards with the 200 grain ammo.

The trigger was good, and the series 70 option Kimber went with surely helped. When I say the trigger is good, I mean good but not great. Perhaps I am used to the Geissele triggers on my AR's so I may be a bit biased. The fit and finish were unbelievable. Billy cut his finger open on a can and got blood on both the slide and receiver. I wiped it down with an alcohol pad when I got home without a problem. The dried blood wiped right off.

The Delta point Pro sight is nice. I like it, but sometimes it can be hard to pick up the sight until you get used to it I guess. To be honest, I would have preferred an iron sight version which would have also been cheaper. But the red dot sight does make the gun interesting and I am sure I will get used to it.

The six inch stainless steel barrel has a ramped barrel. This is good for full power 10mm ammo, The feed ramp is highly polished as you would expect.

All in all, I am very happy with the purchase. More rounds will be put through this gun over the upcoming months and years.

That is a very nice 10MM. I have had a Kimber Camp Guard 10 for some time. It was designed by the Rocky Mtn Elk Foundation and outfitters and hunters. It is a 10MM  that matches the mountains. ;D

4949Shooter, my range buddy - thank you for letting me shoot your new Kimber Custom Shop Jagare 10mm last week!  Reading about new guns and watching videos is fun but neither comes close to actually shooting one!

I echo your review (though happily I did not get blood on your brand new gun!) I found the gun to be well balanced even with it's long nose; trigger very good and action was very smooth - even without having been broken in.  The gun has a nice grip and feel to it, looks very nice with well finished details without being too much.  it is amazingly accurate and the sight is acquired very quickly with the built in red dot.  It is not picky about ammo and ate the 6 different brand/bullet weight combinations we fed it trouble free the day I got to shoot it.  I found the red dot better integrated than the one I threw on my G40 which I still have not gotten used to.  The Jag trigger and action are similar to my Dan Wesson Bruin but the Jag is probably a step up with the built in red dot sight and ported barrel. It is very easy to be accurate with that gun.  I say grab one if you can!

Thanks! And I'll wager a bet the Jim Bridger of the past would have liked to have a Campguard on his hip.

Thanks Taylor. I am super glad you liked the Kimber. We had a great time testing ammo and three different 10mm pistols. I think we learned something about weapon characteristics and ammo selection.

We'll have to do it again soon!
