BEEMER!

I've been trying to complete this group for a lot of years and I am finally getting closer.

I purchased an API marked Bren Ten this week and that completes all the cataloged Brens in my collection except the Jeff Cooper Commemorative and I have never even seen a picture of one other than Colonel Coopers.

First time that I have ever had them all out together so I thought I would take a photo.

Very nice, impressive! Equally impressive that there's a magazine in each one :)

The magazine problem was certainly not what everyone believes.

When they first started up they were going to make 10mm's and 45 ACP's.  They worked with Mec-Gar on the magazines and Mec-Gar said they could make one mag that would work for both and the prototype did.  The magazines were ordered  and production started on the guns.  When the magazines arrived from Italy they would not work in the 10mm which is what the finished pistols were chambered for.  D&D would not pay for the mags and new ones had to be made elsewhere.

People had down payments on the guns and were screaming so pistols were shipped without mags so the customers knew they were getting their guns.

There are lots of magazines out there.  Some are without markings and some are marked 10 mm.

Holy mackerel..what a collection! It's almost 1% of all Bren Tens ever made.

what a beautiful family photo. :D
do you shoot any of them?

BEEMER!

The first one I bought was a Standard Model and I shot it some, maybe 500 rounds or so.  It shot good and functioned fine but I got afraid after reading up on the slide problems.  I was going to get it magna-fluxed or what ever they do to check the cast slides but I just decided to put it up as they cost too much to throw away.

Here is a photo of an API marked Bren.  These supposedly went to close associates of Jeff Cooper at his American Pistol Institute and a few close friends who were Gun Writers.  The serial number looks like a birth date but I do not know whose.  The guys at Gunsite could come up with no answers.

Anyone here have any ideas?

I have the good safe but my dog died.

My idea on insurance may be different than some.  I have never spent a dime on a gun that I think I would need in a short period of time.  If all my guns disappeared it would not change my way of life except for recreation and hobby time.  None of them would need to be replaced immediately for life to continue.

Now if my house, my car, or, my truck were lost, they would need to be replace immediately for my life to go on.  Those items need insured to the fullest.

In my opinion, gun insurance premiums are way to high for the amount of risk I have.  I have spent far less money on the security system I had installed.  JMO
