Well I went and started on the 30'06 brass, sad news though they were not sized...I had virbra tumbled them cleaned and hand deprimed them but never sized them. :o  Good news, I started the sizing process, got 100 sized and primed to load up.  I'll get to the other 500+ as time goes on!  ;D
e crimps
Did you just forget to size them, or think that you didn't have to?  I just got done reloading a bunch of the old Greek surplus stuff. Whew, swaging out the primer holes from the crimps was the worse part.

I had another batch previously, that I had sized and trimmed but had already loaded them sometime back, thinking I did these at the same time...this batch were only hand deprimed and polished not resized.  Now I looking for someone to sell me 200 or trade me some Large Rife Magnum primers so I can finish with the other 200 bullets and that will still leave me with a 100 brass to do other loads with...

What do you deprime them with? My Lee dies size and deprime on one stroke of the ram.
Some people think I'm paranoid because I have so many guns. With all my guns, what do I have to be paranoid about?

I use the RCBS FL dies, which also sizes and deprimes at the same stroke, however I purchased the 600 FC 30'06 brass used, some necks were bent a little.  But using a LEE 30cal hand deprimer or my homemade depriming pin I tap them out prior to polishing them to clean the primer pockets during the tumbler secession.  It is a must when doing any military brass with crimped primers.

BTW, I could only load 400 of them even though I had 500 matching bullets M80 147grain BT...I used up all but 39 grains of the IMR4831 powder. ???  LOL  This powder was given to me in 1985 by a co-worker in a brown glass jug!  It still smell sweet of the solvents used when it was made!  ;D

400 x 60.0 grains = 3.428571428571429 lbs   This is a compressed load as loaded...All hand weighed as match loads.

I have IMR3031 I can load the rest but may wait to see if any powder shows up in the near future...to load the rest with something else.

It will be cool in the morning tomorrow, I think I'll setup to cast a few bullets!  That's always a good option to provide some ammo in times like this...  8)

I am picking up 2010 lbs of lead Friday afternoon.  Looks like I will be spending the weekend in front of a couple of dutch ovens.

The_Shadow

Somebody's going to need some tin and or Linotype to enrich their mix!  Tin to help with fill out, linotype to increase hardness.
Be careful, enjoy your weekend... :D

I don't see why. I send all bottleneck cases through a second tumbling after I size them, and swage the primer pockets if needed, just to get the case lube off. Easier step to just dump them in media again than to have to size them after swaging.

The lead is already 1% tin, 3% antimony, and when quenched from the mold is about linotype hardness.  I add 1% more tin when it hits the casting pot.

Most of it I will sell to a local commercial caster.

The_Shadow

Managed to sit at the casting pot today for two short periods, made a small can of 165 grain 357 Keith Style from a Seaco Mold and then some 45 Lyman 185 grain Devastator HP's. ;D  After the first secession I completely emptied the Lyman pot and gave it a thorough cleaning on the inside and the pour spout and stem.  It is amazing just how much stuff can gunk up and then the flow of the pour spout slows down.  Second secession flowed like water from the cleaned spout. 8)

Today I casted more of the 45 Devastators HP's and then casted some 10mm RCBS 200 grain TC BB with a slight SWC.
Then I setup and sized about 300 of the 165 grain Keith Style @ 358" on the RCBS sizer/lubricator.  I need to make me a ratchet setup for the lube.  That damn rod that came with it had lost the plastic balls on the ends and its rough on my hands! :-[

Thinking about using an old socket, drilling it thru and thru to add a small bolt, then use a ratchet to adjust the lube pressure.  That should give more leverage and the ratchet would allow the cranking position to work at any angle.

Been cleaning/sorting brass all morning.    I still have a large box to go do.    I really should do that batch as soon as I get home from the range instead of spedning a whole day doing it every couple months.

That is what I end up doing at the end of EVERY range trip day. Sort the brass, start the cleaning, and get the guns cleaned and relubed.

I have been waiting for these Double Tap bullets for some time. I received them about a week and a half ago and was UNPLESANTLY suprised at there condition and packaging. They where in a bullet box, loose. With lotsa air space so in transit the lube was knocked off all the bullets. Some worse than others but all with damage. Yesterday I decided to run ALL thru my sizer to re lube them. As I went thru I found about 15% had the gas checks fall off too.

Now I have yet to shoot any so I'm hesitant to load many more until I shoot them. But I like the bullet as was seriously considering buying a large quantity.

I guess I'll put that $$ towards my own mould as this is unacxeptable. LUCKLY I had a .401 sizer! I have not contacted Double tap to complain. What do you guys think?  I have pics if anyone is interested.

Anyone know where I can get a good 180-205g WFNGC two cavity mould that I don't need to remortgage the house to acquire

I would contact Double Tap, but I wouldn't hold my breath that they will make sweeping changes to how they do things.  They may send you some more bullets.

NOE has this mold in stock: http://noebulletmolds.com/NV/product_info.php?cPath=39&products_id=330

I just picked up the 4 cavity version of this mold on Saturday, and unless UPS screws up my Lee handle delivery today, I will try it out tonight.

Unfortunately this mold is NOT a GC design, so it doesn't quite meet your desires.

Mountain Molds will cut you a custom 2 cavity mold of your design using their online tool for $95.  I have one of their molds, and highly recommend them.

Got all of the bullets sized and lubed...45cal Devastators HP's and the 10mm RCBS 200 grain TC BB.  Started using the Carnuaba Red from White Lable Lube, it is softer (much cheaper) than the Zambini from Rooster Labs(no longer made).
