Well another one into the collection. Ordered a Sig P220 hunter elite. Then of course had to get the DD chest holster extra mags etc. Ramge report coming with the next couple of weeks.  :D

Congrats! That Sig is one of a very few 10mms I've never even handled. Good luck with it.

Not sure if you've owned a stainless Sig before, but I'm very confident you're going to be more than pleased. I had the P220 Elite stainless (45 Auto) for a few years, and when taking classes at Sig in New Hampshire, always selected the P229, which was a blast to shoot. Congratulations and I too look forward to your extensive and detailed report  :)

Got bit as well. I managed to get thru the government mandated restrictions and impediments and got my P220 Elite SS 10mm. My prior experiemcehad been with a G20SF and frankly I was underwhelmed. My earlier exposure to Sig was a P226 and it was love from the start. So I hocked one or two of the first born and ordered the P220. Some of my earlier shooting was probably influenced by medical issues in the past. I just figured out a few shooting modifications that produced nice clear sight pictures. Id been fighting double sight pictures that came and went without rhyme or reason. Well, WOW! Speer 180 Gold Dots and XTPs sought to cluster together . Groups at 30 ys shot over sandbags clustered in 1.5" with an occasional flier that I blame on operator error. The velocity of the rounds was a tad above 1300FPS. Function was good with only 2 bobbles in a couple 100 shots. One was a round stuck on feed ramp. A second was odd with the last cartridge moving forward from recoil, this allowing the slide lock to lock the slide open. Never repeated it. And believe it or not a bad primer, major brand..?? Powder and interiorof case all dusted in yellow. Bullet did not leave case.
I have learned a few useful things about eyesight, age and shooting. Ive had more than necessary chemo therapy and extensive treatment for a wierd infectious issue. The result was severe cararacts and resultant lens replacement. As I said double sight pictures were an issue which gave you the choice of which set of sights to use. ::)  I also have a fractured vertebra which is a problem thats addressed with oxycodone. This causes pupils to constrict. This like a small aperture in a camera gives good fine detail. It helps a lot but its not the best or most practical system as you might suspect. BUT, I tried shooting with both eyes open and for ,to me, an unknown reason gave nice crisp sight pictures.... and nice groups. It was like being 30 again!  Im very happy and thankful with this discovery. So, if you have trouble with iron sights as so many of us do with age you might want to try shooting with both eyes open. It may not work for you but if it does you'll be amazed.

I apologize if  Ive mucked up this thread but the mention of a new P220 made it difficult for me to be quiet!

I've had my 220-10 for a while now...  Not one issue with reloads and factory range ammo.
Great gun.  Good luck with yours.

BTW, at the range I use my 220-45 mags without issue either ( tho I wouldn't recommend for carry ).. allows me to load up 12 mags at once before getting there.
