This is a big THANKS! to forum member REDLINE for his recent contributions to the Commercial Ammo documentations/pull downs project.

His recent donations to the cause were 3 cartridges of each to be able to see the consistency of the process the company uses.  These included 51 cartridges, 5 weights of DT, 6 weights of UW, 2 weights of Hornady, 1 weight of PMC, 1 weight of Winchester and 1 weight from MAGTECH, all are documented and shown in the 10mm pull downs.

This project takes time to try and document with pictures, make notations in the document for each sample, researching specifications from the manufactures such as MZ velocity and MZ energy, taking careful measurements specific to the various types, then care being taken to break each down so as not to lose not even one speck of powder.  This includes sweeping with an artist paint brush, the scale pan, bullet puller and cases to insure every thing gets weighed and put back inside!   After the pictures and notes are made, I will put each back together using my dies, resizing without depriming, expanding enough for the bullet to just enter the casing, adjusting the seating die to seat them fully to the exact seating COAL as found, then after all are back together I completed by taper crimps to finish.

Some powders are difficult to identify, some are easier and some are proprietary or modified canister products.  I examine several examples of loading data studying powders which perform based on the weight for similar applications.  Also powders found in the pull downs are compared to a database of pictures I have collected or have on hand to see if a more positive identification can be made.

So again many thanks to all of the people who participate and have participated in this project as we can learn what is being used or if changes are made over time.

And Thank You The_Shadow for your end of the continuous commitment to the pull-downs, especially in the meticulous way you carry them out leaving nothing to question.

Of these loads that had previously been pulled-down, my biggest interest was to see what if any changes were made. And in the aftermath clearly changes were made to the load recipes.

The biggest surprises for me are seeing Hornady bring true full power 10mm ammo to the table, while UW has watered down their 10mm ammo and shows overinflated velocity claims (though not to a pathetic extent like DT).
Gun Control?  Oh yes, the theory that becoming a victim is somehow morally superior to defending yourself & your family.  Makes perfect sense.

Absolutely Redline, you're very welcomed!  Getting to document and record the history. as changes have taken place over time, can give better insight of what shooters are getting and the numbers they see or don't see.
The handloader in me has questioned and even asked several companies like UW and Swamp Fox if the pressures are within SAAMI specifications.  UW swears his were and SF had his own pressure barrel with piezo transducers to test his...

It has been a challenge that has added to my education and study of powders out there as I roll my own.  I should have gotten the license and loaded custom ammo like that of McNett, Underwood, and Willard...  LOL! ;D

Once again many thanks for the contributions!  8)
