Don't know how long Winchester White Box 10mm has been out but I saw it for the first time on a store shelf this past weekend.  Don't know if it has made it to any Walmart shelves yet.  No doubt the 10mm is here to stay....practically every year more different firearms are chambered for it and new ammo options show up. Life is good, Long live the 10mm Auto!

Gun Control?  Oh yes, the theory that becoming a victim is somehow morally superior to defending yourself & your family.  Makes perfect sense.

Compare to specs for Winchester 40 s&w white box
Same projectile weight & type
Muzzle Velocity (fps) 990
Muzzle Energy (ft lbs) 390

Here is an interesting fact of these box label ballistics.

I was thinking to myself that practice ammo should be a reasonable percent reduction from full power.  80% popped into my head and I thought "Why doesn't Winchester load this to at least 80% of a full power 10mm 180 grain load?"

So, I did the math.

1350*.80 = 1080

Oh...I guess they did do the math.

But surely 990 fps is more than 80% of a 180 grain 40 S&W load.

More math:

990/1100 = 90% (exactly)

So, it appears they are purposely loading to (or at least advertising they load to) 80% of full power on 10mm and 90% full power on 40 S&W.

Pleasantly surprised to find there is defensible method to their madness!

Also 1200 * .90 = 1080

So they might just have used the 90% factor and a max of 1200 for 10mm.

Either way, makes sense.
"The meek shall inherit the Earth" is a mistranslation. Properly translated it would say: "Those who have swords and know how to use them, but keep them sheathed, shall inherit the Earth". Carry every day.

I'm sure there's a lot of geographical variance in ammo prices, but around here Winchester white box is pretty expensive.

I can buy Magtech ammo for half the price. In fact, I can buy loaded Magtech ammo for less than unprimed Winchester brass...

Out of a Glock 34 and stock barrel the 180 grain .40 Magtech averages 1,118, and the brass is fine for reloading range loads. Winchester Ranger LEO 180 grain ammo only makes 960 from the same gun.

I haven't shot any Magtech 10mm since I have plenty of reloads, but next time I'm in town I'll get a box and see how it does.

Glad we have more 10mm options, though all I shoot are my own reloads and Underwood, plus the Federal Trophy Bonded.

I'm glad to see more offerings! I would rather have S&B, or Sig ammo though if the ballistics prove out.

I am a big S&B guy myself, hard to beat the price and performance.  If I look around vigilantly I can often get it for 0.27/rnd shipped with tax.

Sig ammo or Underwood Range Supply are about the two best practice 10mm rounds out there for the price. IMHO..

Edit: Glad another of the big four are offering 10mm though.

I too prefer Magtech/SB. WWB seems to be weak sauce and over priced to me.

I just purchased two 50 rd boxes of Winchester wbox 10mm in 180 grain fmj. Both boxes had one round with malformed primers. Quality control not very good on these.
