So as some know, I have posted in the pull down areas, especially 9mm. Well I have been working on a few loads, just playing around with some old pulled bullets I had ordered. The order was pulled HST rounds, but had a lot of hydra shocks mixed in. All weights, 124, 135, and 147gr. I have been playing with the 124 gr and testing them with a close copy of the Underwood 124gr +p+. Just to see if these old rounds could stand up to the velocities and if they achieve better performance loaded hotter.

Well I have been working on a 135gr load as close to as 1200fps as possible, as the original was pretty anemic in tests i've seen. I hadn't chronographed them yet, I was hoping to do so today but the rain negated that hope. However in a brief clearing I was outside and had a ground hog about 15 yards away. I had the 135 gr loads in the gun and had the chance to fire the shot. Bullet entered between the right side neck area and exited the left hind leg. It produced a good size exit wound and the bullet came to rest about 2 feet beyond him laying in the rocks. It was dead right there. bullet travel was around a total of 8-9 inches through the body.

Hopefully tomorrow I can chronograph the velocity during my trip to the range.
