Case bulge

Will going up in recoil spring strengh keep the action closed longer there by reducing case bulge in a factory glock  barrel?

In my opinion the the Glock pistol can benefit to a certain extent using an extra power RSA.  I use a non captive RSA setup on my Glocks and the measurements have shown the spring adds some extra spring pressure applied at lock up.  Although the extra is a small amount, it has made many loads better overall with respect to case expansion and not producing the "SMILE"!

Also understand that usually a factory barrel will naturally allow case expansion to 0.434" as the case expands to the chamber, any more than that the distinct line or  "SMILE" is starting.

Never seen the actual smile on mine just more bulging than I get on my fully supported chamber barrel

In my barrels I only see bulging with top loads and its not excessive or a problem. In my Mech Tec upper I can get healthy smiles from some powders. But its because its not a locked breech. Scary just the same. I can get respectable velocities, just have to choose powders carefully. For instance no 800X heavy loads.

Too many times I see guys reporting "glock bulge" or Glock smiles when its simply case bulge as your reporting. As we all know Glock chambers are pretty well supported but also pretty generious. He ce the bulging cases with heavier loads. I picked up a Dillon sizer and it worked pretty well. I also altered a spare 40/10 die so it better sizes all the way down.

I think this might be a good use for the LEE push thru die. But CRINGE when folks who really have smiles run cases thru..  REAL Glock Smiled cases go in recycle bin!!  They are done and not safe. Metal fatigue is REAL!

Once bulged couple times or badly, Ill use only for fun shooting lighter range loads.

Heaviest hitters get new brass.

Sounds like good rule of thumb you know. whats interesting though it's hard to find 10mm bulge photos on the internet it seems as comparisons

I see usu a slight bulge with my G20/3 ... running 180 heads and 10.4 Bdot
I consider this a med load.
Now going over 10x with Starline brass as per reloads. I'll prob run them till they crack.

Not a large bulge as mentioned, usu just the Lee press makes them fit in the go/no go gauge

Yeah pretry sure I've read that thread though the standard lee sizing die I've been using doesn't seem to have any problems resizing them

My hard cast with 10.1 blue dot started flattening the case head out of my storm Lake barrel I backed it down to 9.7 for accuracy but haven't tried them from my stock barrel.
all in all I'm probably only running medium to light loads but I've just gotten started in reloading so the bulge makes me nervous just wish I could find more photos for comparison but I've never seen a smile to date
Wife just got me a chrony for birthday looking forward to using that

The bulge is not with any sharp lines but more of a gentle curve near the base... if you see actual lines, the brass is trashed
Usu, this happens if the case goes over .434 in size... most of mine from the glock come out at .431- .432
you can always mic' the case

Thanks for the picks yeah mine have expanded more than that in the oem barrel but never any lines
