Is there any difference in the sig sauer v crown 10mm yellow box and black box?

Not sure but the yellow box was mostly FMJ bullets (brass cases) and not the V-Crown JHP (nickel cases).  You will have to look around to see if this is the difference.

QuoteSIG SAUER® Introduces 10mm Elite Performance Ammunition  for Personal Defense, Hunting and Target Shooting

Newington, NH (January 13, 2015) – SIG SAUER, Inc., designer and manufacturer of the world's most reliable firearms, accessories, and ammunition, continues to expand its Elite Performance Ammunition line with the introduction of two new 10mm options - a 180gr 10mm Elite Performance V-Crown™ Jacketed Hollow Point (JHP) and a 180gr Elite Performance Full Metal Jacket (FMJ) premium target load.

The 10mm Elite Performance V-Crown JHP is an extremely accurate load delivering consistent expansion. A distinct advantage of the SIG V-Crown is the toothed cannelure located halfway up the shank of the bullet.  Its location more effectively locks the jacket and lead/alloy core, providing exceptional structural integrity in a jacketed bullet.  This design ensures maximum weight retention and energy on impact.  The proprietary SIG V-Crown stacked hollow point bullet design, along with the V-shaped jacket skives, aids in providing controlled, uniform expansion.   DUCTA–BRIGHT 7A™ coated brass cases also provide enhanced lubricity, offering superior corrosion resistance, and more reliable feeding and extraction in semi-automatic pistols.

The Sig V Crown has turned out to be the most accurate factory load that I have shot through my 10mm's...  Ruger SR 1911's, Glock 40 MOS and Kimber Custom II.  I am very happy with that load as all of my 1911's are shooting less than 2" at 20 yards.  I have shot two deer with it, both whitetail does.  One at 55 yards and one at about 30.  Neither went more than about 20 yards after the hit and neither bullet was recovered.

The only downside has been that it has been very hard to find since about the first of the year.  I have searched every on line supplier and they have all be out of stock.  I was worried that it may have been discontinued so I have been hoarding my stock some.  Then I walked into my local gun store the other day and he had five new boxes on the shelf.  I bought them all!

Yep, Sig's V Crown JHP's would make a great carry rd. Very accurate and controllable for faster follow up shots
