I wonder if that's why I got some high readings off one box I had and low off the other?  :o

Could be I made some changes after I reviewed more powder pictures...?? non-canister or 540.  Looking at some of my older data Winchester showed loads for a 170 gr using
8.0 grains of 540 powder @ 1030 fps 24,200 psi
9.9 grains of 540 powder @ 1250 fps 35,600 psi

I'm amazed at the amount of tarnishing on the brass cases.  Then again it seems in my own experience that the Winchester 10mm Auto brass does tarnish much easier than others, like all on its own without any real adverse conditions or finger prints.  Wonder what property ot Winchester's 10mm brass causes that?

Yes Winchester's brass is good strength wise but yes the tarnish shortly after wards...

I wonder if the tarnishing could have to do with an overall cheaper brass recipe compared to other brands.  I mean, they must know after all this time that their brass does tarnish quicker than other's.

I beat on Winchester but they won't give us a new 10mm round or some of their better bullets.

They should load up their 200 grain Ranger talons, or even the 180 grainers for that matter.

I was looking at Barnes and they are showing there all copper with a "black coating" (perhaps lubealoy) that they are using, however they only show them loaded in 9mm, 40S&W &45ACP...

Barnes should make a 175 grain 10mm bullet. That would work.

The_Shadow

It would be too long and that would cause high pressure issues...as it is their 155 TAC-XP is as long as a 220 cast lead and the 140 TAC-XP is as long as the 200 XTP.

Oh right. I had forgotten the all copper bullets are longer.

REDLINE

Winchester does have a cult following with their 175gr SilverTip load.  But I agree, they could definitely add more options.  Like WWB 10mm loads wouldn't hurt my feelings any either. ;D

What I really wish is that Federal would come out with couple HST factory 10mm loads.  And offer HST bullets as a loading component, but I realize that would be waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much to ask. :(
