Talon Grips and solvents

Anyone have any issues with their Talon Grips loosening, or dissolving from cleaning solvents? I haven't put them on my XDm yet, but want to avoid problems if possible.
Thanks

I use Talon grips on all my smooth Poly 80 Glocks. Never a problem, but I rarely soak frames in solvent. I usually dust poly frames of any variety and with a plastic brush, dry swab, wipe with clean cotton rags and done. Sometimes if really dirty I blast with a plastic safe (most are) silicone spray lube (solvent carrier). Really hose out, the allow to drain upside down, then just wipe. The Talon and other brand grips never peeled or got nasty.

I don't use chlorinated solvents, brake fluid, acetone, MEK, etc on polymer frame guns regardless.

Thanks Pablo, very similar to my cleaning habits. I do use gun scrubber on occasion, but covering the Grips from any over spray isn't an issue

Well, after spending the needed time to property install my XDm Talon grips, I must say, these baby's are darn nice : )

Did you get the rubber or granulate grip??

Kenk

The rubber ones, they off a really nice product, and for $20.00, seems hard to beat
Thanks

I use both. But the sand paper versions are really aggressive. So I heeded the advice that they can actually be sanded as odd as it sounds. It works! Frankly best of both worlds.

I prefer not to use such tape.  But smooth grip guns, short of stippling, the tape becomes required. Look at the smooth Polymer80 frames.

The nice thing is if they get funky or lose, I can just remove them

How much sticky goo adhesive is left on the gun?

Kenk

They claim none, but that remains to be seen

Kenk

Out of curiosity, I emailed Talon regarding possible leftover residue

Ken,
The adhesive is designed to release from the polymer and stick to the grip itself. You should be back to the factory grip within 5 minutes of starting the removal process. If you see any stubborn spots the best thing to do is dab the grip with the reaming adhesive on it and it should pull right off. If any stubborn spots remain after that a small amount of rubbing alcohol will dry it right up.

Thanks fro your order.

Thx. My XDM is a 40cal and grips a bit slick so will get a kit and put on her.

If it's for carry,  they recommend the rubber texture. Also, you need to select the back strap size when ordering. I found mine on Amazon. If you are a Prime member, it should run you $21.46 total. The biggest thing I learned is go slow when installing / watch their video a few times
