I've been hoping they'd bring that one back, it was supposed to be a Patrol Rifle when they brought it out back around 2005 but it just didn't sell.  The only one I tried had a 25-30 pound trigger, (yes, really) and wasn't terribly accurate.  I guess the current obsession with PCC's and the 3-gun folks made it a good time to try it again.  They'll have to make it a gas gun to offer it in 10mm, and I doubt that will ever happen, at least in that format.   The Ten doesn't do well in blowback guns.

But if Ruger ever brings out a 10mm carbine........I'm all in!   :P

OF COARSE, we ALL would prefer the 10MM....  But as this is configured, a 10MM Blow back is a beast, nearly everyone wants LIGHT as if all are 90# weaklings. But SO MUCH is said about weight... it might just kibosh the 10MM in this rifle/carbine.

If they created a locked or even a semi locked breech the costs would go up and it wouldn't be this gun. (But would/had make it more likely to have a 10MM)

45 ACP is a logical next step. I hope hope hope for the 10, But I aint holdin' my breath. I THRILLED to have it in 40. Ballistics of this 40, will meet and surpass the 10MM hand gun loads.

And yet the Hi Point 10 is a blowback action and, while seriously ugly, apparently runs well judging by the reports.

Just a UPDATE HERE!

I have had this carbine now a few months and I like it allot. Its been 100% for iver 500 rounds of jacketed and plated ammo. I switched it to mostly my cast and its been great. I shot our season ending fun match last month. I finished middle of the pack... (Im usually top 3 in class and top ten over all for about sixty ish shooters) Im not blaming the gun Im blaming me and the bullets. See before I was powder coating for a short time, I bought powder coated bullets. These look identical to my Lyman 180 RFN mold. I had loaded all the store bought and shelved them. Well this carbine is hungry! I had worked thru my own cast and was into these bullets. (Never fired in this gun). I had had issue with them in other guns. Annoying occasional ftf. I believe that either the QC is lacking in sizing or they where wrongly sized. I had one FTF in each of first three relays. I had TWO bullet stuck in chamber BEFORE BATTERY! They did go in with a push and being lead fired off fine. (Lead into rifling isnt what jacketed into rifling is)

I got my eye balls on and inspected. I could not find any fat bullets. BUT I only had about 35-40 remaining and upon close inspection the meplat on these bullets was smaller than that of my own Lyman mold.

Yesterday on the range my buddies 23 yr old joined us. I gave him this rifle along with three hundred of my cast steel Loads. He ran thru every last one with two huckups but said he had the mag fall
Out. So obviously he didnt get the mag all the way into its position causing the problem. These where power pistol powder and my cast 180 bullet. Clocks right under 1300 fps (16" bbl) Powder coated. The chamber area had some blackening but the barrel was brite and shiny with zero visible fouling.

Im sure it was all ammo/bullet related problems.

Velocities have been at or just over published 10mm hand gun numbers. Most 180g meet or best 1300 fps! 135's are better than 1400!! I might just try this on Deer up close!!

Sneed,

Its not that it cannot be done. People complain of weight as much as they BREATHE...  A blow back 10mm is gonna be bulky and heavy to work cause it needs a heavy bolt. If bulky and heavy dont describe the Hipoint what does beside fugly!?!  The MECH-TECH is another its HEAVY! BUT THEY WORK!!
A radial locking / delayed blow back bolt is a much better option handling the 10mm. Much like CMMG is doing and would be a big change in the PC mandating a different gun and price...  THATS MY POINT!

I would LOVE TO SEE ONE!!  In reality a 45 is a better possibility. But who knows!

I wonder if you could buy a 40 and then screw a 9mm front end on it and run both? maybe get ruger to sell a barrel assembly seperately? they list on their website barrel replacement for pc carbine at 85 dollars. and hey if a 9mm barrel can be fit and run on a 40 cal bolt than means a 357 sig chamber could be cut.. I know its not the 10 everyone wants but it could be a fun gun.

I said that the day I learned they where offering a 40...

A 357 sig is a AWESOME CARBINE ROUND!!!

its been a minute since the last post on here but cw, how is this rifle holding up. There is one at my local Scheels. There must of been a banquet somewhere they handled the guns for. In the "preowned" section there are quite a few new rifles marked as preowned. THey have the 9 and 40 Ruger PC at $425 ish. Thought about pickin up the 40.

Sorry for missing your comment!!

I havent shot the gun in about a year. Im needing a complete knee replacement and that along with covid killed my 3gun shooting. I was still shooting steel matches where I didnt need ta run around but thats mostly with a pistol.

But the gun is and gas always been 100% and Id stake my life upon mine.
