I was wondering what you folks could tell me about Swamp Fox 10mm ammo. I just got a box of 200 grain Hornadys with a muzzle velocity of 1325 fps. Thats what it says on the box flap anyway and they are hollow points. It also says on the box fully supported chambers only. Well both of my 10's do have fully supported chambers/barrels and compared to my double tap stuff its listed at 1250 fps with the same weight bullet. If this is true this stuff is smoke'in. Looking forward to your imformation on Swampfox ammo. Thanks,

Well seeing how you asked...Mike Willard of SwampFox God rest his soul...
135gr @ 1700 fps (Nosler)
155gr @ 1525 fps (XTP)
180gr @ 1400 fps (XTP)
200gr @ 1240 fps (XTP & FMJ)  9.4 grains LongShot measured by Shadow
200gr @ 1325 fps (XTP & FMJ)  9.9-10.0 grains LongShot FULLY SUPPORTED AFTERMARKET BARREL ONLY

Mike used mostly Hodgdon's LongShot  powder and that loading you have you have has see some issues as many were using it.
Use Caution: You will need a gun with great support, and good Recoil springs and even then I could have some issues.... :o

I did a pull down on the 1240 as shown above and another forum member pulled the 1325 load and I had spoke with Mike prior to his passing about theses loads and they are what they are!

I doubt the DT will meet the advertised data...But the SwampFox will be up there.

Thanks 4949 sounds like some powerful stuff to say the least. The guns i was going to shoot some of this stuff from is a Nighthawk 1911 and a Dan Wesson Cbob both with fully supported integral barrels. Do you think its safe firing it in these guns?

d762nato

This stuff sounds kind of scary the guy i got it from said be careful.  I just don't want to blow up either one of these fine guns and i know zilch about reloading at this time. Maybe I'll have my shooting buddy pull one and weigh the charge and see what he thinks. I had an HK-91 blow up in 1989 and I don't want to do that again.

Deadguy

Hey D.  You will be fine shooting it out of the guns you have.  I shot it out of a Kimber STII and zero issues with case bulges or anything like that.  Just hold on tight!!

The_Shadow

I load my own at the 1240 fps even for my S&W1006 a very strong and supported platform, while I can simply load to the higher level I don't feel like beating the guns up either...

I would consider buying the ammo, so I could further study what Mike was doing and check the quality control of the product.  If you read about some of the info I post you'll see that I work hard doing ammo pull-downs and the 40's that were in the other link posted by 4949, I did get the ammo from the guy and pulled it all down as he was interested in why his gun blew apart.  My mission is to dis-spell the myths about what people are actually buying and using and also learn about what the manufactures are doing.  Those who do handload their own stuff can also learn where they stand in their progress.

I have Intercooler to thank for alot of the stuff he shares and sends me for the pull-downs to report in the ammo section right here on the forum...

7.62, you might get some varying opinions on this. I personally would rather sell it to Shadow than risk shooting it in my guns, but that is completely up to you.

Intercooler

I shot some and did a video. They got my attention right away and if anyone calls Kevin's unsafe you should try a couple of these  :o

Deadguy

Just so you guys know, the rounds you received from me previously came from the same box that D has now. You have already tested and/or pulled them.

The_Shadow

Deadguy the ones I got from you, were the SwampFox 165gr GDHP 40S&W's loaded with up to 10.0 grains of LongShot
Muzzle Velocity: 1325 fps  Muzzle Energy: 643 ft. lbs  This was very Hot...

The ones d762nato is talking about are 10mm 200 grain XTP's loaded to 1325 fps which are loaded with according to Mike, 10.0 grains of LongShot.  People who tried them in the 6" barrels had some issues form the discussion I remember! Others with the shorter 5" or less had less problems.  He maybe OK shooting them in those guns he listed providing they are setup with extra power recoil springs and some even had extra power main spring setups!  ???

Shadow I've never had any gold dot 40S&W. the only ammo I shipped for pulling/testing was 2 rounds of SwampFox to....gosh I forgot his name but he posted the results at Glock Talk and it turned into a huge thread, and 10 rounds from the same box to Intercooler.

ETA:  it was Nick. Here is the thread.

Your post threw me off and the link that was posted by 4949shooter was about that KB.

Glad you set me straight!   8)

That is some serious firepower from a standard 10mm sized platform!  Like Deadguy said, and I agree;  "Just hold on tight!!"   ;D
Gun Control?  Oh yes, the theory that becoming a victim is somehow morally superior to defending yourself & your family.  Makes perfect sense.
