So, I finally got my TRP. Headed out to the range today, and I couldn't have been more disappointed. Shot about 150 rounds and had multiple double feeds on every magazine. 6 different magazines and 3 types of ammo. A pistol that cost this much should function right out of the box. I have never had any issues with my Sig P220, shoots everything I feed it. anyone else have this problem?

I don't own a TRP, and I know you said you ran 3 different kinds of ammo.  But, I wanted to offer some hope in a wierd way: I handload a lot of 10mm, and the difference between the rounds that will feed reliably in my Glock 29 and those that feed in my Witness and RIA autos is extremely small...and it looks to be simply a matter of overall length of the load.  So, it's a least possible all 3 loads you ran had pretty much the same OAL--whether too long, too short or it wouldn't have made any difference I can't say, of course.  The slightly shorter cast loads I run without issue in the RIA will jam up the Glock everytime; I seldom could get through a full magazine.

All that said, if you're seeing it jam the top round into the one below it that is also trying to leave the magazine, then cartridge OAL may not be the issue at all.
If Armscor 10mm ammo was not among those you shot, I'd recommend trying a box--i found it to be exceptionally accurate and have not had any problems cycling it in any of the 10mm auto pistols I have.  Unless you tried it or are one of the folks who feel 10mm must be loaded beyond SAMMI max in order to qualify as shootable 10mm ammo, you might find it cycles.

My own personal experience and 'field observations' of others with auto pistols is that, the more they cost, the less reliable they are...but I throw my Model 41 in there as a data point, so it's a little silly to infer a 'trend' with a notoriously-cranky firearm in the mix.

My experience with my P220 when I owned it was the same as yours--as long as I didn't try to shoot squibs with it, it ran without issue.  :)

I'm confident those who know more and actually own the pistol and know their magazines will be able to help.

For the money you paid, I would call them up and make them fix it.  It should run and it should run with everything.

That said, I have found bolt over base failures to feed (AKA three point jam) to be very common in 1911's in 10mm.

Thank you both for your advice. As soon as they are open on Monday I am contacting them. The three types of ammo I used were Sig, S&B, and Underwood. Even tried some different bullet weights. Hopefully Springfield can find an easy fix.

I sent mine back twice, for  failure to feed, and abysmal accuracy.  They fixed the feeding but claimed the accuracy was my ineptitude as a shooter.

Springfield is not a competent gun maker.

I may get a new barrel for it and try to fix it.

Or maybe cast it in concrete and use it for a doorstop.

Crazy reading all this. I have one it is reliable accurate and tough as tank. I know this because I had a bullet detonate totally destroying the bullet in the magazine below it and leaving some nasty black marks on my hand. I sent that gun back of course telling the truth I had used reloaded ammo. They fixed the extractor I paid for new magazine and the gun runs like a top no I'll effects at all and is very accurate. My gun is the long slide.

I have one and it was a PITA out of the box... not being bright enough to just send it back to SA, I polished the disconnector rail, ran some blue magic on the slide rails, replaced the extractor, and just touched the chamber with a finishing reamer... runs everything I feed it now and it is back in my good graces...Lots of FTRB issues from others (or at least that is what most complain about)

Moral of the story- Don't follow my lead.. ::)

Send it back...at least give them a chance to make it right.

Maybe it was a bad reload.  Or maybe the TRP fired out of battery?  Who knows?

I sold mine (yes, in the interest of ethics I made full disclosure) at a loss to someone who can work on it.  He thinks the barrel is bad and can replace and fot a new one.

I just took delivery of another Springfield:  the anti-TRP, the XDM 10mm 5.25 inches.    We'll see how it works.

Reload issue confirmed with two other rounds from that batch. Powder measure was bridging.

Received the firearm back from Springfield, it now runs without jamming. Accuracy still isn't stellar, it shoots extremely low. Had a Range Officer shoot it to see if it was me, he had the same issue. A5 this point I wish I had just bought a second P220.

I am sorry you are having trouble with your TRP.  I bought one of the 5" and then added one with the RMR.  Both have shot exceptionally well so I suppose I am lucky.  Having said that, my Dan Wesson 10mms are nothing short of awesome, very accurate.  I also have a six inch Heine Nighthawk that will shoot the wings off a fly if I could see that well lol.  Good luck in the future with your TRPs.

terdog

What Dan Wessons do you have?

I have a 9mm Valkyrie,  10mm CBOB and a 10mm VALOR.
The VALOR is my favorite.  50 yrs (with sticks and open OEM sights) and I was ringing the 8" steel.

See my experience in another thread.  Failure to feed, shot patterns not groups . . . Springfield says that's all they can do.  Sold it for a big loss to someone willing to tinker with it, and bought XDM 10mm 5.25 inch.  So far so good.

TRP no good.  For $1800 it should be awesome.  Don't waste your cash. Spend <$700 and get Darth Vader's concealed carry weapon--the XDM!

Wait!  What?  They cost more than a Dan Wesson?  I had no idea!  Bought my RZ10 new for $450 less than that.

I paid $1250 shipped for my TRP Operator long slide.
The comparable Dan Wesson would be a Bruin and that is closer to $1800. I prefer Dan Wessons but so far I have no issues with my Springfield.
My 1st 100 rounds with the Springfield delivered me 6 failures to return to battery. I chalked that up to a new tight gun that was getting dirty .
So far I am happy with my Springfield.
