I picked up a 1095 just to play with, and wondering how they are holding up to full power loads?

I use 180gr gold dots and 14.9gr AA#9, it's been my go to load out of G20 and 6in kkm barrel. My average velocity was 1384 fps with that.

The only issue I've had is armscor brass is junk lol, starline holds up fine, armscor had 2 split at the case mouth.

How about some pics and a followup report?

I apologize I didn't see this reply! I'll get some pictures tomorrow as I'll be out doing some load testing and sighting in. I'm thinking of using this gun as my deer gun this season here in Ohio.

Gun wise I didn't have much hopes for this gun. I mean it's a hi-point. But I was shocked, the gun has been flawless. The trigger out of the box is heavy and horrible. It's smoothed out but it's still horrible, it's not a match trigger or a precision rifle. I can live with that. Accuracy out to 50 yards has been phenomenal. I have sent mostly handloaded full power 10mm out of this thing. It's ate them up. Only 2 factory rounds I've sent down the pipe has been Armscor 10mm 180gr fmj and 200gr Speer Gold Dots. The rubber cheekrest is a hair puller, I removed it quickly!

I installed an old 3x9x40 scope on this gun, mainly because I had it laying around. It's an older Bushnell, from when still made in the USA. It's held zero, even though there is some recoil with this gun, not strong but slightly odd due to the springs built into the stock and shoulder pad. The other possible downfall, and I don't know if it's my gun or just due to the blowback action, is the base of the brass is bulged, and it's been across the board. From factory to full power. I haven't attempted to reload any just for safety, but I'll order a bulge buster and try a few with some target loads.

One of my biggest observations, is if using this for any type of hunting, especially deer, choose your ammo or reload data wisely. My first attempt with 180gr Hornady XTP's and 9.5gr longshot exceeded Hornady's maximum velocity envelope. With the barrel at 17.5 inches, and the 10mm using slower powders it does get a velocity boost. A boost which will punish most bullets. I wouldn't think of using gold dots, silvertips, golden sabers, or the lighter 155gr hornady bullet. I've put some serious thought into using gas checked hard cast for this gun due to the velocities achieved.

the 180gr XTP exceeded 1500fps by a great margin, coming close to 1000 ft/lbs muzzle energy and when shot at a gel block it completely obliterated the bullet. This is the first time I've witnessed an XTP bullet peel back to the base, shed it's jacket and lost 50+ grains of weight. In fact I would offer the advice of not utilizing full charges in this gun if you're in close range of an animal, unless it's for dispatching and you want to see the after effects?

Tomorrow's expedition will be testing the 200gr XTP over top of 12.7gr AA#9. I'm using this load as it's what The shadow and Mr. Revolver guy used. It's not max per Hornady but over .2gr per Western Powder. We all know varying charge weights happen so I'm not worried. Plus it doesn't crush my bullet like the max Hornady book load does.

All in all, I believe this gun is a pretty good deal, and can handle some hefty full power 10mm loads. It's cheap, and I wear it out I'll drive 20 minutes to the factory and use the warranty lol!

Thanks for the review. i've been looking at those for awhile.

What kind of accuracy are you getting?

This was at 75 yards with the 12.7gr AA#9 200gr XTP. The four fliers were my fault as I got a little twitchy lol. The rest were fairly quick rapid fire. I'm going to try a slow fire test here soon to see what I get. So far it's been very accurate. For a cheaper carbine and being ugly as sin, it's held up, and hasn't missed a beat.

Only real negative I have is, the chamber is fairly generous. Even factory stuff swells beyond my comfort zone, pretty much concludes full power is one and done. I don't reuse the brass. I pick them up, and save them to recycle or get a discount on new brass
