Neat. Perfect for home defense.

I'm sure somebody will one-up you with a G40 barrel and one of the new 33 round Kriss mag extensions, though.

Actually is there a version of the 29 compatible with the 40 barrel?

No they say the locking lugs are different. But since the locking block is removable, what if you put a G20 locking block in a 29? Will the barrel from the 20 work then?

Looks like a short slide G20 or G40 to me.

Ha!  That's my woods gun, but I only have 16 rds in it...

Edited to add:  My G29 extended length KKM barrels were purchased used from a member here and are G29 specific...

Well as I read through this set of post, it seems to lead to some confusion.  The mention of:
QuoteActually is there a version of the 29 compatible with the 40 barrel?
The Glock 29 does have a different profile to its barrel's lock up...therefore it is not compatable for use with either of the Glock 20 or Glock 40 gun barrels and don't work in the G-29.
This should not be confused with the use of a 40S&W conversion barrel, they make a conversion barrel for each of the Glock models.

The 6" barrels of the G-40 will also work in the G-20 guns.

Also understand that there are differences between the 3rd generation and 4th generation guns as it pertains to slides for recoil systems and the frames to accomadate where the front of the slide fits.  The 4 gen have a larger opening in the slide where the recoil rod sits which also makes that area larger in diameter, which rquires the frame to also have that larger radius dust cover to match.

I certainly could have been more specific with that initial question... I have a G20 gen 4 and a G40, and I have swapped the slides/barrels on occasion.

I intended to ask: Is there a version of the G29 that is compatible with a G40 6" barrel?

It was merely a point of curiosity, and it sounds like the answer is no.

Same answer still stands.  The frame to barrel interface angles and dimensions are differend on a G29 than they are on the G20/40.  No G20/40 barrel is going to work on a G29.

I would add, don't be like me and try it anyway.  I had to dis-assemble my gun from the inside out to get it back apart, like taking apart a ship in a bottle without breaking things.  It was quite the 15-20 minutes of panic.  They way the geometry works out the striker will cock, but cannot be released because the slide won't go into battery fully.

I understand because I tried a Glock 22 barrel in a Glock 27. I had to take the slide plate off and disassemble it. A 23 barrel will fit in a 27, but the 22 barrel wont

I have a slightly sillier thing, I chopped a 21 grip frame to 29/30 length and I have Glock 20 magazines with grip sleeves and Glock 29 magazines with +2 extensions.

It has a Lone Wolf "Tactical length" slide (about 5.2") but with a Storm Lake 6" conversion barrel.

So it should be the performance of a 40 but it will print more like a 20/29.

I like it.  Glockstore keeps blowing out their 17/22 frames cheap and I keep hoping they will offer some 20/21 frames for $50.  I would snap a couple up for just this purpose.  CCO Glock build.

ME TOO!!

I have been one the fence for a 80% for the G20.

I love the 29 as a trail gun. I don't have a longer bbl for mine but I have a bunch of them for other models! KKM is a favorite!

The X-Grip dose a fine job making the G29 a G20 frame feel.

I wish 9x25 barrels where offered for the G29...

80% build is frustrating for 10mm.  Scant few of the parts stores seem aware Glock makes anything at all NOT 9mm.  I did see a G20/21 80% frame recently but I had just gotten a complete G21 lower at a flea market.  He had another that was stripped but would not sell me both.  Lone Wolf had a complete tactical slide on clarence.  Added truglo sites, 3 mags, and we're there.  Now I want a G29... there's just no end to it.
