I got trigger happy playing with my 29, so I definitely got to order more carry ammo. So just for fun, I've got 3 bullet types to choose from, to carry until new stuff gets here.
1) Hornady Critical Duty 175, 1083 fps
2) Underwood XTP 200, 1170 fps
3) Underwood Nosler 200, 1163 fps

My next carry load will be....*drum roll*
.
.
.
.
Underwood Gold Dot 165gr. Justin said from a 29 penetration is 13" - 14" and expands to .80"-.85" . I believe this is an IDEAL carry load. But you guys have probably noticed I'm indecisive as hell sometimes.

So, which one should get the nod for the time being ?

I carry the UW 165 gr Gold Dots exclusively in my 20 and 29. In my opinion it is the best of both worlds velocity and penetration.

That's what I'm ordering is the 165 GD. But for now, I'm having trouble deciding. Honestly I dont trust the XTP.  The 200 got 16" of penetration for Tnoutdoors9, but that was from a Glock 20. Without that extra speed to get that thing opened up bigger, it's going through someone. It seems like the Critical Duty has a bad performance in gel for every 2 good performances.

For the woods, I wouldn't hesitate to carry either of the three.  In town I'd limit my choices to the last two (exclude the Hornady).

However, since you asked for opinions....  My personal ranking...
Underwood 200gr XTP, just barely nosing out the Underwood 200gr Nosler...  Then the Hornady Critical Duty.

That's how I'd stack them but again, wouldn't be least bit concerned about taking a stroll almost anywhere you want to go with any one of them in my gat.  That's my ranking and it's worth just what you paid for it.

Underwood 200 XTP's are controllable and accurate. Personally, I feel the XTP is the ideal bullet for 10mm and tends to perform better when pushed hard. The Hornady Custom 155 XTP is also a hot load and will hit stated velocity from the 29, one of my preferred carry loads.

10mm Auto 180 Grain Bonded Jacketed Hollow Point(gold dot bullet) from underwood....nice round!
Speer Gold Dot 10mm  200 Grain Jacketed Hollow Point-factory ammo, only 1100 fps for something a little milder but still a bad ass round

Any of the options you mention should work.

These are my choices for what it's worth, 165gr for carry, and depending on what you could be up against in the woods, either the UW 200gr XTP or the 220 Hard Cast...Kind of an Underwood fan, not that you noticed. : )

In addition the Sig 180gr VCrown, Or the 175gr Silvertip would perform well for carry
