I just picked up a Glock 20SF and I have a question on handloaded ammo...If this really should be in handloading.. Sorry.

If I handload with a standard book load and use new brass and jacketed bullets I should be OK right?  (180gr FMJ Speer/8.2gr Power Pistol/Starline brass)  It's when using anything other than jacketed and brass that has been used before, the trouble starts... I'm going to get a Lone Wolf barrel but I haven't done it yet.   My guess is that (a LW Barrel) would make me OK with plated bullets and with once-fired brass...

Do my assumptions seem incorrect?

I reload 180gr plated Berry's or Rainier over 8.2gr of Power Pistol for a standard plinking load for my Smith And Wesson 1006s and I've never had any hint of any problem even with brass used 3/4 times.

Thanks.

You would be fine shooting the plated bullets in your glock 20 just the bullets need to be shot at lower velocities other wise they suffer with the thin jackets, some of the thicker plated bullets can be driven as hard as true jacketes stuff.

Cast bullets can also be shot safely using bullets properly sized and lubed, with care being taken to check for leading and good cleaning between secessions...I cast my own bullets and use many thru my Glock 29.

Aftermarket barrels can provide some good results following the same proceedures of bullet fit and lube.

Best regards!

As Shadow has said, with good practices reloads are fine in Glocks.  It is when guys intentionally overload or don't check bore size for lead bullets that they get into trouble.

Book loads and quality components will yield many, many reloads from your brass.  It will likely split at the mouth before it is otherwise compromised as a pressure vessel.
