Chopinbloc got a couple of these for gel. I should have told him do this right after the DoubleTap .357's.

Keep in mind that I haven't worked with Lil'Gun powder...it is my speculation that this load is Lil'Gun powder, based on the profile of the amount of powder, data with it and velocity claims.  However, I have never worked with this powder and only have two pictures to compare it with.
I hope someone who has some Lil'Gun powder, could post a picture of this powder or e-mail the picture as a file to me.

Update:  I did get Hodgdon Lil Gun powder and have confirmed my speculations as to that being it!  Worked with this powder in 458 SOCOM as well...

Added to the sheet. As info they are rated 1350 FPS but gave 1374/664 for me.

Could we move all the other .357's under one post here?

Interesting and different one. I bought those when SG had a deal going for a try. They are right there with powder charges of greater amounts.

Wow :o

So that could have been a squib? That's horrible! Unfortunately I have a good bit of Precision One left. It's not really any cheaper than other stuff and quality control looks a little lacking. I also remember they had real issues with their site and none of it was real strong.

So far we have had one low powder charge, one 180 that was actually 200's... and we have only pulled 1-2 from each MFG  :o

Precision One 125 was rated 1400 FPS and gave 1398 FPS out of my GP100.

The_Shadow

Thanks for that update on the Precision 1, I added that to the data sheet.

RDub01

Heya Shadow..
I pulled down some Speer 125gr a while back and found 20.8grs of a ball powder.  Interesting..

http://smith-wessonforum.com/reloading/189366-357-mag-125gr-factory-duplication.html
WHY DO THEY CALL IT COMMON SENSE WHEN IT IS SO UNCOMMON?

The_Shadow

RDub01, that's good info, I wish you could post some closeup powder pictures to help ID them. I have lost my Hard Drive which had my powder picture files, I still have the pictures of powder I took, But I had a great data file of powder pictures.  It will be a while before I can rebuild those files.  New Hard drive on order!

Heavy crimps will help with the best ignition with these heavy charges for the 357 mag or 44 mag, as any other straight wall cartridge that is roll crimp-able.  Mag Primers can also help but some charges may need to be adjusted.
