Found out about this forum from one of my fellow members at "Calguns.net". I just knew I needed to sign up because I love the 10mm. Please dont write me off for being from California. We have lots of pasionate gun owners here in this state that will fight for our rights right next to everybody else in this great country. Its an up hill battle for our gun rights here but we dont give up and will bring the fight to the capitol every time!!!

I'm also on NorthwestFirearms.com under the same name. I learned about this site from CGN. I don't recall seeing this mentioned on NWF. It may help to post this there as well if it hasn't been already.

Count me in.  Born here (they didn't consult me prior), escaped for a few years to serve, then they sent me back.  The weather sucks, the hunting (regs) sucks, taxes suck, politicians suck, economy sucks, but it's home, and I love my little corner of the woods (and the desert I visit often).  The rest of the state can use a little fire and brimstone.

I was at Whidbey Island for 4 years, when not deployed out of Jax on the Forrestal (USS Zippo).  Great place for hunting, riding, hiking/packing, fishing, shooting, sailing, 4 months out of the year (too wet the rest).

When were you at Whidbey? I was there 2002-2005 at base police.

Oh, crap!  20 years before that!

This is one of the things I love about online gun forums and the gun community in general.  All pretense and assumption is stripped away.  Friendships are forged based on common ground.  The bias and prejudice of age and appearance are absent.

I belong to a Utah specific gun forum and we occasionally get together and shoot.  It is always interesting to see the brief astonishment when we realize who our friends online are in real life.  They never are quite who you expect, and often are rich relationships you would have missed out on otherwise.

DM1906

Absolutely.  I follow a few sites, and admin one (automotive related).  I've met several people I consider good friends I would have never met otherwise.  As you said, if we're here, we already have a common passion.  Automotive sites, on the other hand, people sign up when something goes wrong, and it's usually not passion related.

I have done this on the powerstroke forums.  Can you guess what displacement diesel engine my Excursion had?  (For those that don't know, 6.0 Ford diesels are terrible.)

6 degrees of separation.  We've probably crossed paths before.  My site is primarily GM Diesel themed, I frequent most of the other popular sites, branded and non-branded.

....Sorry about your 'stroke of luck.

It's gone now.  I have a Suburban instead.  Along with more 10mm options from gunmakers (Smith & Wesson M&P and Springfield XD, I am looking at you), I wish GM would put a diesel in the suburban again.  I don't need a big stump puller like my Excursion had even.  I just like running without spark plugs.

Oh well.  I am an odd-ball all around.

There are a lot of conversion options available.  Suburban/Duramax conversions are becoming very popular.  Older chassis have newer options from GEP/AMG with several new 6.5L engines that are proving rock solid.   What's wrong with stump pullers?  Especially one that'll make 1320' in the 11's or better (with a 3.5 ton truck)?  Come on over and have a look around.  Look me up: DmaxMaverick
