Received replacement adjustable S&W 1006 rear target sight today

     I placed an order in October through MidwayUSA and they kept pushing the delivery date back. This past week I finally just placed an order direct with PSI Sights for it and cancelled Midway. This is the first step to get this on and see where we are at on the shooting low issue (12 O'clock hold). My favorite for any pistol is all black adjustable rear. After it's on and adjusted I will be adding a Dawson fiber-optic green front but they may have to cut it down some for the setup.

Anyone know which direction the rear sight taps out of the Dovetail?

I may try to move it out on my own and the new in before hitting up a Smith. Hopefully they aren't crazy tight like my XD.

Seems like I generally go left, but I don't know that it matters on a sight dovetail.  Just go slow.

Intercooler, they use a sight pushing tool to shove the sights on the S&W, they are difficult to push and require some force to do so!  I'm going see if I can find a picture of the tool a guy was making some for this operation.

I think I'd place something between the end of the pushing screw and the sight to be moved as not to mar the sight itself. 

he modified the screw somewhat!

I tried tapping it off with the punch Dawson sent to do the XD sights. No luck at all! It's not moving in the least without a pusher.

The sights on my STI slide required more than "tapping" to get moving.  I am going to build a pusher cause I don't like swinging a hammer that hard at my gun.

I'm thinking about buying that since I don't see sight issues not being there down the road. I paid $40 the first time having my XD sights done. The 1006 will need the rear installed (maybe $35) and then the front ($35) again after I order the custom front. Pretty much pays for this and I know future pieces will need it.

I messaged him and he got right back to me. He said he has a 1006 that's he is really fond of but it had the adjustable sights. Wonder if he sells them on the S&W board cheaper? Seems of good quality plus includes the pads to place against the slide.

He said it will do many different pistols. In my boat I would save in the long-run versus taking them to a Smith every change.

Here is one with an angled and flat side to it. I kind of like the viewing holes on each side to see positioning. May work like garbage or be a gem.

Yea, that one is sort of nice too!  I don't understand why these people don't use fine thread bolts for more control and finer adjustments...

I notice the guy mentioned heat treating the parts of his product. Not long ago I saw an expensive sight pusher at a local gun shop that had a broken frame from trying to remove some Kimber sights. Obviously, although a branded product the metal wasn't up to the job.

I read the thread from the S&W website, somewhere in it the maker mentioned the finer thread bolts stripped easier than the coarse thread. True or not, I don't know.

Stripped the slide off tonight for delivery to the Smith tomorrow. I hope to have it back by Thursday and will take a couple of pictures.
