Whose eyeballing one of these?  Gonna wait for the bugs to get worked out, if there are any (I bet on bugs). Just going to go for one?

I will probably break down and get one just for reliability. I don't normally support firearms without a true safety or hammer, but new 10mm firearms are limited, and the reviews on just about every new 10mm out there except the Glock are sketchy at best. I own a few newer 10mm's by EAA and Kimber. I love them all but the jams, stove pipes and overall unreliability is perplexing. I hear nothing but rave reviews from most Glock owners. I love the cartridge so much that I have considered just having a bunch of S&W 610's revolvers for the reliability factor.

My big glock is a gen 3, but I have a little one (G19) that is a gen 4. I would have no problem getting a gen 4 G20, and if given the choice of Gen 3 or 4, I would choose 4. The differences are minor, but are a good thing.

Hello GR,

A true safety... On a GLOCK friendly board.... Really?!?!?!  ;). Did you really write that? ::) LOL

I'm sure you know the GLOCK indeed does have a number of safeties, and I am also sure you realize a safety is a mechanical device that can and will fail. Your best safety is sitting on your shoulders. Like all quality firearms, in proper working order, if you do not depress the trigger the gun will not fire. ;)

Now I am sure you mean manually manulipulated safety lever. It's all a mind set, a matter of training.  Finger off trigger until sites are on target.

I have no use for one.  I already have a G29.  Someday a G20 at the right price will cross my path and get added to the 10mm stable, but I am not particularly concerned about what generation it is.

I am kinda like GR in that I like active safeties on a handgun.

And I am very much in agreement with cwlongshot that the shooter is safe, not the gun.  Like the crusty old Soviet squad leader said to a new recruit who asked about the safety on the Mosin Nagant rifle:  "Is not safe!  Is gun!".

I could write a treatise on accidental vs negligent discharge and the way they are flipped between a Glock and 1911, but I won't.

GR, if you are having issues with a Kimber, call 'em up.  That gun should run with factory ammo. and if it doesn't get them to fix it for you.

I guess I am the opposite. I hate safeties on my gun, to me they are just one more thing that needs to be done. And one more thing to get in the way.

I keep my G20 with one in the pipe. As long as you keep your finger off the trigger it will never go off.

I carry my G29 the same way.  And I am always extra nervous when I holster it after reading a few (possibly apocryphal) stories of shirt tails getting inside a holster.

Of course, I don't like ambi safeties because they can (and do) get knocked off unless you have a thumb break holster that covers both sides of the gun.

I just ordered a 29 last week, but likely won't see it for several more as shipping will probably take a while as will completion of a background check--they're going slow these days as you might expect. Now that I think about it though, I have no idea whether I ordered a Gen 3 or a Gen 4, and as I'm not a Glock owner currently, I wouldn't know the difference or likely care too much. I do know it's an SF model.

I recently picked up a Witness Hunter, and while I have only 150 rds or so through it so far, it's been 100% malfunction-free and dead nuts off the rest. Not as carryable as I expect the 29 to be, though.  :)

So, what are the significant changes in the Gen 4 for the 20 and 29s? Just curious.

If it's an SF model, it's a Gen 3. The Gen 4 doesn't have the SF designation, but has removable backstraps for different sizes. The smallest is supposed to be the same as the SF, although I wouldn't be surprised if it feels a little smaller.

The other significant changes for the gen 4 is a dual recoil spring assy, and a larger mag release, which is really nice. It doesn't stick out further to snag on things, it has more surface area to press on. It's also reversible for left hand operation.

Oh, and it comes with 3 mags instead of 2. Up till the current panic, that was worth half of the $50 price difference. Now, that extra mag is worth close to $50 on it's own...

I want one.  Probably won't actually see one for quite a while with all the Glock panic buying taking place though.

I have a minor dilemma...

I have a Gen4 G20 and a Gen4 G29... I also have a sizable (unexpected) tax bill this year :-( I am considering selling the G29 as I carry the G20 most of the time - I've found that if I can conceal the G29 I can usually do the same with the G20.

Anyway, I have the G29 with a Grip Force Adapter and Warren Tactical fiber optic sights, three mags, the box and all accessories plus an additional 5 mags and 2 blue gun training mags. I have put about 200 rounds through the gun without any issue... What would be a fair price for this as a package? I have right at $800 in it - would it be unreasonable to ask that?

I really hate the thought of selling it, even if I have come to love the G20 a bit more, but I may not have any other option. I guess I just need some advice. Actually I could have used some tax advice last year but that is another, sadder story LOL

Due to the gen4 being a little rare you can probably get what you have into it or maybe more.
