50 Beowulf. It's the only AR platform rifle that I own.

That is sick.  What is the barrel length, and what bullet weight(s) can you get up to what velocity(s) with it?
Gun Control?  Oh yes, the theory that becoming a victim is somehow morally superior to defending yourself & your family.  Makes perfect sense.

sqlbullet

275-400 grains in the 1800 fps range.  500 grain projectiles slow down to about 1400 fps.  At those velocities it would be ballistically (flight trajectory) similar to original 45-70 loads, not the new high pressure ones.

Heavy hitter though.  400 grains at 1800 fps means pretty much no cover unless you have plate armor.

1800fps with a 400gr slug is 2877 lb-ft.  Not too shabby and pokes a big hole.

Barrel is 16 inches.  The 50 Beowulf fits my liking for big bore calibers that can be tailored to do a variety of tasks.  Everything from 500gr XTPs to Sinterfire fragmented, to the 325gr Barnes 54 cal muzzle loader, "expander" all copper bullet. (the bullet is .50cal and comes in a sabot which I discarded). The great thing about the Beowulf is that it will use many of the same bullets that my 500 S&W mag does.  BTW More velocity does not always mean better terminal performance.

You know, I found almost 500 rounds of once fired 223 in my safe last night.  Nothing to do now but shop for an AR ;D

Any idea of what you'll be shopping for?

Unless a killer deal falls in my lap, I will probably build myself.

Last time I looked around at complete guns Stag had a great deal.  But, Colt's are pretty reasonable these days as well.

The issue I run into if I buy is the stack of parts I end up with after I replace everything with what I actually want.

I've bought a bunch of AR's over the years, sold most of them, and currently have four on hand.  The top one is my newest, a DPMS I found used with a nice Leupold 3x9 scope on it.  Below that is my old standby, a S&W MP-15, one of four I bought several years ago, I kept the one with the best trigger/accuracy, and put an A2 stock on it.  This gun has digested a fair amount of ammo, at least 6K of steel-cased stuff and a lot of handloads, and it has never choked, ever.  It's easily the favorite.

The third gun (the one with the gland condition) is another DPMS, my only .308 semiauto.  It's affectionately known as "The Beast", because it weighs about 14 pounds loaded.  It shoots right well, though.  With the ammo it likes it will stay under an inch at 100.  With ammo it doesn't like it's a 10-inch gun!  Picky sucker.

The bottom rifle is one I recently bought for my son, he got to pick it out, and he wanted a bare-bones gun, so we got him a new Del-Ton.  With young eyes and a steady hand, it will put ten rounds of Hornady Steel Match into about an inch and a half at 100 yards, using the factory open sights.  I wish I could see that well!

Anyone who actually believes Joe Biden got 81 Million votes is either delusional, an idiot, or a Democrat.  And likely all three.

I am joining the game.  I got in on a group by deal in another forum I belong too.  One of the sponsors that makes lowers is offering them to longtime members at a great price, and we get to be in line ahead of the current panic.  I ordered two.  Planning to build one up as a 5.56, and the other in 6.8 spc.  Probably be most of the year before I get them finished with my other projects, but I will post photos as I go along.
