I lived in Dallas in the 1970s and 80s...was a really great city to live in.  Had several friends who lived in Richardson and Garland that liked the towns...

The crime and traffic is horrible however. You could chain a Honda to a telephone pole and in the morning not only would the bike and chain be gone but a good possibility the pole also. Where I live now, I could park my Harley in the driveway running...it would run out of gas and fall over when the kickstand rusted out before anyone ever stole it...

And as said, if you like hunting hope you have DEEP pockets.  There are a lot of places one can hunt hogs cheap because they are such a scourge but deer and bird hunting is a whole nother ball game...

Good luck to you and thanks for a great site....

I moved to Tyler 2 yrs ago, from Shreveport/Bossier City area. Tyler/east Tx is cleaner! People are nicer. Temps are hot n dry. Broadway, or Hwy 69 north/south in south Tyler sucks!! Be warned. Lots of medical  around here. Seems like a descent place to live. We are south, country living.

Funny...I lived just north of you in Greenville four miles south of I-30 right on Highway 69...

Lived there from 1981 to 1987...last time I was there was 2006 and the highway was a lot busier than when I lived there...

I lived in the Houston area in the 1980's, as a young man it was a happin'n place. As a new LEO it was an education.   ;D

The western part of the State is very cool, if you get a chance Austin is the liberal/left wing home of the University of Texas, Texas State Capitol and a vibrant music scene.  Heading out west from there it just gets more interesting.  Driving thru west Texas you're liable to see animals from all over the World.  Some wag called Texas the "Mexican version of Africa"

I'd move back in a heartbeat.   8)
