Any thoughts on the GRAND POWER P40 10mm?, likes, dislikes, or other
Thanks

Don't own one, but after researching them, decided to pass for awhile. The mag drop issue was the killer for me. I'm interested what the members who own them have to say, as well. Now that they've been around for a couple of years.

Can't quite figure out why the best price I can find for a P40 in 10mm is $650 and it's $830 for a P40L. It's only 3/4" longer. $830 seems a little high for today's market for a polymer gun. That's Glock 40 money, plus new sights. Or, Tanfoglio P Match plus 8 magazines money.

I would love to have the opportunity to shoot one. Haven't seen one in a store or at a range.

Yep, have some fascination with them, but for the price, the G40 is looking pretty good : )

I didn't know this gun existed.   I just looked at photos of it.

It looks exactly like what you'd expect Darth Vader's CHL gun to look like.

I have one, it is probably my favorite 10mm and gets carried in cooler weather.  Extremely accurate, less recoil than a typical Browning design and with that comes brass much closer and almost in a pile. Overall I am extremely happy with this gun. On the down side it did take a while for them to get the mag drop issue fixed, but it is fixed, ancient history almost now. Night sites have been problematic to get, they have (or had, I'm not really sure) the rear FO Tritium sight but did not have the front one. I found that the front sight from another pistol was almost a perfect match and that pretty much solved that. I am referring to the importer when I say "they have", as the factory has them available in Europe. I imagine it is an import restriction of some sort. I have close to 10K rounds through mine now, all reloads and all functioned well. Over all I would give it an 8/10. I'm happy to answer any questions about the GP 40.

Thanks PC, my interest has been rekindled : )

My experience is much like PCFlorida's except I haven't got to put that many rounds through mine.  I too really like this handgun.

How's the trigger on these guns? Similar to anything else you own or have fired?

PCFlorida

Ah, the trigger. To begin with the P40 is not striker fired. It is a DA/SA pistol. It has a relatively smooth DA pull right to the end when it stacks and then fires. SA is smooth with (I'm guessing as I don't have a trigger pull scale handy) a 3 to 4 pound short pull. Definitely not a Glock :) If I had to compare it anything it would likely be my Beretta 92, but is actually a little better. I can't compare it to my Sig 220, they are just different from each other.

Which repair location fixed your mag drop issue? I need to send mine in to get that fixed as well as have something done with the roll pin in the grip.  Mine works it's way out enough to dig into your hand after a few dry fires.

That would be:

Colorado Gun Works L.L.C. / American Arsenal & Armory
110 North Wine Street, Lyons, IN 47443

So the mag drop issue is from the past, correct? And not an issue now?

PCFlorida

I only had the issue with smokin loads. I do not have it at all since I sent it back. Not once.
