This looks like an interesting gun, shoots .22tcm and some come with 9mm barrel. I don't really care about the 9mm, have enough of those. It has a nice fire ball at night, 2000fps from a 5" barrel. The price won't break the bank, see them on GB for under $700.00. Ammo is around $20.00/50 rounds. After I get my Springfield 1911 TRP 10mm off layaway will take a serious look at this one. Does anybody have experience with .22tcm? The reviews I have seen a very positive. Thanks for any feedback!

I own two 5.7x28 they are so easy to put multiple rounds on target in very rapid succession. They have a pretty impressive track record for defensive stops.

I think the TCM is a better executed version using a more available base round the 9mm case and achieving simular ballistics. I also will say FN ammo si expensive and tough to come by at times.

The idea you can get this gun in a 1911 officers model have great capacity it makes for good defensive weapon they also offer a nice little bolt action rifle for this round.

Price point is good as well seems like a fun choice and a fun little gun that has some use.

Good information, thanks Ramjet.

22tcm.net is the place to be for this cartridge.

I have posted load data over there.

PS: The 22 TCM is based on the 223 case and not a 9mm case.

Here's the info that is posted over there:

RIA 1911 A2, FS Target Combo (5" barrel)

Since these were my first loaded rounds, I used the Armscor factory (black/yellow box)rounds as my baseline and the average velocity was 2016FPS.

No signs of pressure, got me between 1911- 2012 FPS with good feeding and ejection.

NOTE: Since I could not find a case gauge, I used my barrel to check my dummy rounds. I soon realized that the Hornady dies didn't size the case properly near the head. Using my dremel, I shaved the shell plate down .003" to allow the case to go further into the die body.......bingo!

I had one for awhile.  It wasn't very accurate and the barrel fit was really sloppy.  I welded up the barrel and refit it all, in order to tighten it up.  That fixed the accuracy problem......it would pretty much stack them all in one hole at 50 feet, but then it wouldn't cycle.

I ended up loosening it up a hair at a time until it started cycling again.....but at that point it was all sloppy again and the accuracy went to hell.  That's when I gave up on the POS and sold it.

Thanks, how old was your gun? Do you think the craftmanship has improved any?

RIA guns as rule = you get what you pay for.  Not sure about Tony's expereince but with the 10mm I have owned and still own they areasonably accurate with a little work they do very well. Not sure about the TCM but am going to finding out as want to have one to play around with. I have pissed away money in worse ways.... :o

I bought it new in June of 2012.  S/N TCM001630

Me too, hope to be getting one soon : )

I'm going to keep it at the top of my list, if it works half as good as they claim it will still be fun to shoot!

Tony,

I am not doubting you in any way and certainly respect your knowledge of firearms. Sometimes I  wonder where QC went in products sold in this country? I have had great guns and some real stinkers over my lifetime. Stinks the one you had was such a dog. But how do you feel about the caliber and concept?

I've got/had a couple or a few.  I love'm.  In my experience RIA is the best deal going for a good quality 1911 backed by a lifetime warranty.

I had an early 5" doublestack which my GF's son adopted.  He loved it too much not to buy myself a now available single stack and give him the doublestack.  Somewhere along the way, RIA moved from a traditional barrel to a wilson/nowlin ramped variety.  I also have a 4.25" doublestack, but it is not in service because the frame was hijacked to drive Mechtechs.

I hate parkerization.  But I deal with it at this value.  I'd say go for it.  I'd advise against any of the conversions they sell for popular 9mm's because the 22tcm9r that fits into a 9mm magazine is not 22TCM.

I like the caliber/concept, I just don't think a conventional 1911 is the right platform for it.  There just isn't enough recoil impulse to run a big steel slide like that......or maybe kick the caliber up to .257 or 6.5mm.

Yep! Tony makes a good point as the 224BOZ needed a skeletonized slide to remove mass to allow better cycling from the cartridge!

The "10mm" I'm Packin', Has The Bullets Wackin', Smakin' & The Slide is Rackin' & Jackin'!
