My Bodyguard was a fun little gun, but would not trust my life with it. It would feed perfectly for 50 or 100 rd's, and then fail, and then work, and fail again, not a great attributefor a carry weapon

I have thought about tracking down an AMT Backup in 40 S&W for the 10mm conversion.  Just not sure what it would do that my Glock 29 doesn't do better except be smaller.

Love my SigP290.Heavy for a 6 rounder, but works just fine.No recoil from weight. Took lazer off. It's a up close piece. Not into lazers. 390.00,Sig night sights, Sig lazer. Shot once by owner. My 2018 find. These sell NIB 650 range. Another value pistol I bought and carry is the S&W SDVE 9mm. 8lb trigger works great after softening up,15 rounds and light. 249.00 t0 300 range. POA much better than my G20. Eats it all. Someone really low on funds and in need of a pistol that can run, I'd say a SCCY9mm. I beat it pretty good. Wasn't extracting round, sent it back and received a almost new pistol. Super warranty of the business.

So you like the Ruger LCP for the most part?, anything about it you don't care for?

FWIW We had a few guys using the LCP as off duty / backup guns.  They seemed to run 100% with any ammo, scored well on a 40 round qualification from 3 to 25 yards.  The only "problem" was they all only had ONE magazine.  Everyone else had to wait every six rounds while they reloaded.

There were one or two SR-9 shooters too.  I don't remember any issues, if you brought a gun that worked you didn't get noticed.  Bring a problem gun and drama ensued.  We sent a few guys home butt hurt when their new gat proved unreliable.   Current Ruger pistols seem to be pretty squared away.
Hold my beer and watch this, Don't try this at home kids, Professional driver on a closed course...

Lol, so many great choices, only in America : )

My Bodyguard .380 fell apart, then locked up. FFL actually gave me my money back!

I have an LCP. its my "deep concealment" gun. it is 100% reliable with every ammo I have tried. it doesn't shoot bad either.

SCCY runs 10 rounds of 9mm. Comes with 2 10 Round mags. Snappy with D/A trigger only. But a worthy self defense pistol . 3.1 inch barrel. 3 Dot sights.

Don't depend on AMT for your life.   Cheapo stuff made in California, more or less like Jimenez, Bryco, etc.

I've had an original 1st gen Kel-Tec P3AT (the predecessor for the Ruger LCP) since about 96 or so and have put over 1k through it. I once hit a snake in the head twice with it from ~10' or so. Not bad for a gun with only a sight groove and no actual sights. It is not particularly fun to shoot due to it pinching my trigger finger every shot, but it is a 'working gun' as is my other main weapon when I can carry it, 3rd gen G29 (by choice, don't want a rail on subcompact). After front pocket carry for many years, I finally had to have the slide cerakoted as it was starting to show faint rust from being against me during the hot summer months.

Any gun that is to become my main carry gun gets a bare minimum of 250 rounds through it and if it hiccups, then the count resets. I have to have 250 rounds FLAWLESSLY before I will carry it. I need to know that if I ever have to pull it out, it will work (true for other things too  ;D ).

i don't see a need for the little LCP or crappy 380 guns anymore with the addition of the ultra small 9mms like kahr or glock 43. We have tested several 380s and they are a horrible, anemic little rounds. Your life is worth more than that, especially the life of your families. Shot placement is everything, but if your rounds don't penetrate deep enough to get to the goodies, then they are worthless. yes they are easy and a lot more comfortable, and convenient. convenience = complacency ..Sorry, i like you guys..I'm off the soapbox now, i promise.

My LCP has one purpose only:  carrying while dressed for, and doing, athletic stuff outdoors.  Even the 9mm Shield is too big and heavy for that.  It's the difference between seven rounds of self-defense, and nothing.
