Kimber TLE, Springfield TRP, or Delta Elite?

What do you all recommend for my first 10mm?

The TRP is hands down a better gun than either of the other choices you present.  It's price reflects that as well.

SIG Sauer- P220 Stainless Elite.

Kimber- no way, no how. Springfield- lot of gun but a lot of money. Lots to like about it. Delta Elite- I'm a Colt kinda guy. Yeah I like the Elite but if it were me and wanting a first 10mm gun, the name on it would be Rock Island Ultra FS. Lot of gun and equal, shooting wise, to anything out there, and it's a double stack. But it's a shooters gun, not a hip ornament. It doesn't have the extreme finish of the Springfield. But it's about 1/3 the retail cost at less than a thousand whereas the Springfield retail is right at $2500. per the website I looked at. Probably can get it cheaper than retail. So, you want a shooter, or an ornament that also shoots?

I know from a previous thread that Trapper6L has had legitimate issues with a high end Kimber and I don't blame him for having a "never again" attitude about them. That said, of the three I'd take the Kimber. Most features and best value for the money. Night sights, front strap checkering, ramped barrel, etc, are things the Delta doesn't have. Case support is much better on the Kimber and if you shop a little you can easily find one for under $1000 new. I'm not slamming the the DE. I bought a blued one 30yrs ago and still have it. First centerfire auto I owned.

Like Trapper6L, I too have always rooted for Colt. I have a couple of their vintage revolvers and will probably own them until I die. Unfortunately, since the 80s they've had more downs than ups.

The TRP is probably the best of the three, but not for the money. One of the members here is selling a NIB Les Baer for $2400. If I were shopping in that price range, STI and Les Baer would be where I would look. Admittedly, it's my personal taste, but I don't care for rails on 1911s. If I had $2400 laying around I'd snatch up that Les Baer today.

This is just my opinion based on my own criteria. You, of course, will decide based on your own. Good luck and let us know what you buy. Whichever one, I hope it works out well for you.

Not sure where you saw that price, but MSRP is $1790.00

And you see them in the wild NIB about $400 below that:

https://www.gunbroker.com/item/772266763 - No reserve with bids, 1 day left current bid $1230.00

https://www.gunbroker.com/item/771746536 - Buy Now of $1499.00

https://www.gunbroker.com/item/772081039 - Buy Now of $1629.00, but no reserve starting bid of $1419.00

I completely agree that the RIA offerings are options I would pick over a Kimber or a Delta Elite.  If I wanted a rail gun, I would opt for the Sig TacOps, and if I were going to buy an entry level production-custom in the $1300-$1500 range I would pick up a Dan Wesson Valor.

Would have said that too, but not one of the choices :)

I'm REALLY happy I got the RIA Ultra FS. Outstanding value.
The finish wears easily (esp in kydex) but I am a tool guy, not a jewel guy.
You can't miss fast enough to win a gunfight

Thanks for the suggestions. I will give the Sig and RIA guns a closer look.

I couldn't be happier with my RIA, no feeding issues, accuracy is more than acceptable for its intended use, and you can't beat the price.

Unless you are set on a 1911, the G20 gen 4 would be another great pick, and is about as reliable as it gets; or I should say, my has been

There's a thread here on the Springer that takes it off my list.  Seems even after a trip back to SA it's not that accurate- sample of one though.  I'm partial to Dan Wesson, Ruger and Colt myself.  The single stack RIAs are reliable, many stories of HC issues too.  Currently, I'm carrying a Razorback, but an SR1911 and Delta Elite are on deck.

Currently, I've got a couple of RIAs and Fusions along with the DW, a Ruger and I picked up a used DE this weekend.

+1 on the RIA.  I've got a Dan Wesson Razorback - great gun!  But my starter 10mm was a steel Witness.  I liked starting with something solid, basic, and well reviewed.  My next 1911 10mm will probably be an RIA, when I give the Razorback a rest.  A lot of gun for the money!
