I have 5.5" Custom Blackhawk in  41 GNR which is a 44 necked to 41. 28 Grains of WW296 over a 175 Grain Sierra is something to behold. This custom Blackhawk drops deer like the hammer of Thor came down on them. The muzzle blast in that short Barrel is really significant. I actually like this gun over my 44 magnums.

... If you want a surprise every time you pull the trigger get an airweight snubnose 357.

I ran some Underwood 180 grain .357's through my S&W 340pd AirLite snubnose yesterday, and it flat out hurt. Hurt like catching a fast pitch billiard ball barehanded. Average velocity was 1020 fps...pretty stout for a 180 grain coming out of a short little barrel.

The Underwood 158 grain .38 special +p's averaged 1010 fps, and were a LOT easier on my hands.

Winchester Silvertip 145 grain .357's hurt almost as much as the Underwood 180's, and averaged 1035 fps.

With .38 specials the weapon is easy to shoot all day long. With .357's it's just miserable. I don't think I've ever shot more than ten .357 rounds per session.

After shooting the 340PD my Glock 20 felt like a hand massage every time I pulled the trigger...

Yep, kind of takes the fun out of it when it's that abusive
