These guys, I tell ya. There's a reason I carry everywhere I go except for work. It's just so tragic

Could have been but likely not, it's just a piece of mind I guess

I carry pretty much all day, every day.  I even have a gun while watching TV at night.

I have noticed a couple of things about this.

1.  It keeps my awareness up.  The presence of the gun is a constant reminder that I need to be aware of my surroundings

2.  It keeps me polite.  I am more likely to walk away than to further engage in a confrontation that is going nowhere good.

These are two big benefits.

Well, things are getting worse daily just about everywhere...I went through the process of obtaining and paying for my conceal carry permit for years now and renewing every 5 years in my location.
Yes, I carry most all the time and even as I sit here typing.  I just pray to god that I am not put in the position to have to defend myself or loved ones, because the perp or perps are going to be in a world of shock & awe or worse!  The good lord can sort it out later. :o

The thing that is most weighing on this event, is even if you have to defend yourself or others and your actions are "justifiable", they can still sue you in civil court.  This has be the case in several justified shootings even where citizens help officers in distress attacks.

I saw a shooting incident video the other day where the guy was being accosted by two perps, he shot at both, and they started to run away but he continued to fire at them...  This is where things get screwy, because when they run away, the threat has basically stopped.  Unless they were moving toward your loved ones, with a possibility of bring harm and or imminent danger.

These things can play out very fast and your decisions are made by the way you train and react!

May none of us be placed in the position but stay proficient my friends! ::)

Absolutely, in Minnesota, you pretty much have to have five people videoing while the attacker is on top of you with a butcher knife to make a clean shoot, and you may still end up in a heap of trouble. I Pray on a regular basis that I will never be put in that situation as well

I had a similar incident like 10-7 leo, late at night at a closed gas station getting gas.  I faced the approaching potential bad guy and put my hand in my pocket to draw my first carry pistol that was so new that I hadn't fired it yet.  Fortunately he saw my defensive posture, retreated and drove away.  I thank God I didn't have to engage, especially with an unproven firearm.  I am armed whenever and wherever I can. Major drawback is that I can't consume a beer or two when out for dinner.  :-[

I have to keep telling myself that it is a small sacrifice so that I can offer some level of protection for my family. Then I go home and have a beer.  ;D
