Does anyone make a good quality 10mm carbine in a gas operated (direct impingement or piston driven) that is ultra reliable right of the box???

Hi Point is straight blowback.

The Kriss is a form of roller lock, which is essentially non-linear blowback.

I'm sorry to say I can't offer any examples of gas operated PCCs... I own a MechTech for my Glock 20, and haven't had any inclination to research gas operated alternatives.

Have any of you guys built one? if so, could you give me a parts list. I looked at the high point, it looks interesting, there are a couple of drawbacks, 10 round magazine, proprietary magazine, new unproven, blow back design. How is the Kriss Vector proving out in terms of reliability and accuracy?

I'd contact this guy -

He is one of the few I saw working on a DI 10mm although I could find no one with one in the wild.  There is also a thread on AR15.com from him with more details.

Thanks for the link to the AR 10. The high point doesn't look bad for the price, some say it's ugly, well the Kriss Vector don't win any beauty contest. What pros and cons have you heard about the K/V? Is it a extremely accurate weapon

My Kriss has 700 rounds through it no issues and it is accurate and easy to hold on target. I have an UltraDot mounted on mine. The downward roller action helps with reducing muzzle rise and it works well. Of course it uses Glock mags another plus.

10mm4ever - The fact is, there is a gap in the market, and you hit on it in your original post - there is no commonly available and affordable purpose built 10mm PCC, taking advantage of the ability to feed the magazine through the grip, using a gas-operated system, which is reliable, durable, compact, and lightweight.

If there was, I'd own one.

For now, your options are:
MechTech conversion
Kriss Vector
TNW Aero
Hi Point
HK MP5/10
... and a variety of other AR-style blowback rifles from a variety of companies, nearly all of which you can find posts about on this forum.

I've had a MechTech for about four years. I've got something like 2000 rounds from various brands, full power on down (including something like 80 Winchester White Box 40 S&W) through it, and after some TLC early on it's been 100% reliable. I picked up a used G20, and dedicated the lower to it. I have a Holosun circle dot sight on it, along with MBUS. Its accuracy is very dependent on how consistent the ammunition is - cheap ammo will spread due to inconsistent velocities, and 10mm bullets naturally aren't very ballistically efficient anyway. With quality ammo, I've achieved roughly 1.5 MOA with it.

Does it have drawbacks? Yes. It feels heavy in hand (though it doesn't weigh any more than the average AR-15). It gets pretty dirty with certain brands of ammo. It has no real "field strip" capability. It won't win any beauty contests. But, it's easily the most fun firearm I've ever used, and I wouldn't give it up for anything else on the market today.

Same guy I mentioned. There is more info on his Facebook page regarding the DI 10mm prototypes than the company website - https://www.facebook.com/maconarmory/
