Hi, all I have a Ruger SR 1911 10mm love it so far. Been looking at trying some cast bullets. Two come to my mind a 38-40 180gr RFN and a 200gr TC. I have been handgun hunting for years. I usually hunt with my T/C Encore' s or XP-100's ranging from 7mm br to 350 Rem mag.lol This year I want to try my 10mm 1911.

The 200 grain bullets are a good choice, I like the Hornady XTP, Speer has a new 200 grain Gold Dot.  Cast bullets can also get the job done.
Just understand you need to make well placed shots at decent ranges to be humane to the deer.  You may hit a deer but depending on what vitals are impacted they might not drop in place.  Last one I shot was at 140 yards with a perfectly placed Hornady 200 gr. XTP behind the right shoulder and came to rest under the hide on the far side.  Blew threw both lungs and heart and broke 2 ribs in and one outbound.
Understand this was from a 45 cal Muzzeloader with 10mm sabot and it started out at 2000 fps, estimated impact was at or near 1300+ fps.
The "10mm" I'm Packin', Has The Bullets Wackin', Smakin' & The Slide is Rackin' & Jackin'!

Oh I hear you there...shot placement is key. Knock on wood..I have yet to lose an animal or not drop it with one shot in 35 years!  My dad always told me if you can't drop it with one shot, don t take the shot. I grew up hunting the Oregon coast most of it is thick ass brush and poll thickets. I practice shooting every week 3 months before season , before that it's every few weeks. I have killed many deer wiith my 1911 Colt m70 in 9mm. Can't wait to try out the 10mm!

I've been loading 200 grain XTPs and have tried Beartooth's 200 grain WFNGCs and Montana Bullet Works 200 grain WFNPBs. I prefer the Montana Bullet Works boolits and Blue Dot for both XTPs and hardcast. Haven't killed anything with them yet but I'm ready to do so.
