American Reloading Mixed Bag 10mm Bullets

I order 2 bags of 500 mixed 10mm bullets from American Reloading. Total cost was $68 so I figured to give it a try.

I didn't count each type of bullet, it was taking enough time sorting them by weight and type. But here's a picture of the bullets I got, sorted most to least left to right.
1) 180 gr HP
2) 155 gr FN Leatherhead coated
3) 115 gr frangible
4) 180 gr FMJ
5) 124 gr RNFP frangible
6) 155 gr FMJ
7) 146 gr FP FMJ 0.355 diameter

Yeah, I ordered the mix that seemed to be better and would have better bullets. The next time I will wait for the mix of TMJ or something more specific.

Loaded up 29 of the 180 gr FMJ's last night. 1.26 OAL over 9.5 gr of Longshot. Tonight I'll do a few sets working up to 9.8 gr as my actual work up to see if I get any pressure signs. I know I am max for the load data of Longshot, but it was a ways under max pressure. I have read a mix of posts about Longshot, so I'll just work up carefully and see where the actual limits are with my load.

The real fun will be with the frangible bullets. I may start a thread asking if anyone on here has any experience with these bad boys in 10mm.

I came a cross a deal on a bunch of Remington frangible bullets. They're Sinterfire with a Remington label. I got some in 9mm and 10mm. If you're looking for a bullet to go down the barrel, you found it. If you expect to hit something intentionally, you're still looking. At least, that was my experience. I still have a ton of these things and no clue what I'm going to use them for but a wrist rocket walking the draws out on West Texas might be good. You'll need to stick with a fast burning powder or you'll end up with LOTS of unburned powder in the barrel. I started with AA5/Unique and consider it the absolute slowest I'd recommend for the 10mm. You'll be fighting some form of accuracy vs reliable functioning of the gun. In  a 40SW, the function isn't a problem, the 10mm is a problem.  Per conversation with Sinterfire, they suggest max velocity at or below 1200'ps for any of their bullets. That's hard to hit with a 10mm and expect the gun to function with the light bullets. Now if you have a lighter recoil spring, that could make a huge difference. But for me that ain't gonna happen. I'm not tearing a gun apart just to use one particular bullet.
For the 9mm, the best group, if you want to call it that, was 4" at 25 yds using 5.0 grs Alliant Unique, max OAL. Otherwise, I had groups that were considerably larger than the paper....and I shoot empty 50lb milo feedbags. The Sinterfires I have are 115gr 10mm and 100gr 9mm.

Well the good news is the Witness Hunter comes horrendously under sprung, so I have light recoil springs. Other good news is I have faster powder for 9mm. Other than that... I'm just hoping for better luck with these things than you had Trapper6L. I order the premium mix and there was not mention of it including frangible bullets. If they're a total waste I may call American Reloading but cause they're a good portion of my order.
