Las Vegas shooting not adding up (at least for me)

Not trying to start something but:

  • What kind of person could do something like this, with no apparent previous record or motive?  I could easily understand terrorism, but that's apparently not it
  • How could the hotel not notice someone carrying in, what, 23+ rifles???
  • How did he break the windows to shoot and no one notice or hear?
  • No motive yet at all???
I don't have any answers but this is just not making any sense for me.

Some people just lose it. Go crazy. Hatred in their hearts for so many things. It builds until they crack.

Not adding up for me either. The story keeps changing. He supposedly had 8 weapons with the bump fire stock. Some were 5.56 and some 308. That's great except that the pics they've showed of the rifles, none of the 308s had a bump fire stock. They show what they claim was one of the 308s with a tripod on it used in the shooting. No bump fire stock and 30 round mags only. Of the AR-15s, none had a drum type magazine. The first shot string is close if not exactly 100 rounds. Other shot strings were just as long. There are no drum mags seen in any of the pics. The weapons had 30 round mags. So how did he get around the cleaning crew not seeing anything? How did he manage to wire a camera outside of his room so he could watch for when the police showed up. The camera was on a tripod and wired inside his room. How is it that there are 2 vids showing what looks like muzzle flashes that match the sound coming from the 12th floor? How do you get 20 some odd weapons inside a hotel and nobody sees anything? They claim he had 10 suitcases in the room. To bring that kind of weaponry and ammo, you'd have to have a forklift to carry one. The guy was supposedly brilliant. Why would you bring a rifle to a 250-300 yd shoot and have a holosight on it? Why is there no pics or vid of the windows blown out until the police throw in their grenade? They've all but refuse to listen to a witness that said there was more than one person in the room with him.

For me the last question which is what everybody really wants to know- Why? Who and what is to be gain by this? The whole thing doesn't make sense to me including he flipped out. Too many oddities about what they are releasing as info that just doesn't add up. But then, maybe insanity never adds up.

Keep in mind that the pics aren't official.  They are leaks.  Leaks the LV police are pretty upset about.  Since they are leaks, they aren't going to be complete.

As I understand it, he had lots of large luggage items.  Like airline bags for golf clubs, big suitcases, etc. And he checked in several days before and possibly came and went in between.  Easy to bring up another bag each time.

As far as the why...Nuts is nuts. Be interesting to see what else gets turned up.

Also remember AR15 or AR10 can be broken down into two pieces which would allow several to fit in a large suitcase.  Add a couple suitcases with those large Surefire magazines http://www.surefire.com/tactical-equipment/high-capacity-magazines.html  and put them on a cart to roll them to the elevator.  Make several trips.
Allegedly his security camera was hidden in a room service cart stationed outside his door.

The guy was a professional gambler, setting this up was probably the adrenaline high of his life.

There are many conspiracy theories which are also surfacing, multiple shooters, ISIS /FBI gun sale gone bad with Paddock as the from man, sales of security scanners was mentioned a a plot and a host of others...lots of things don't add up and things need to be sorted out.

Maniac with that much firepower was hunkered down for longer period than what transpired...320' above the crowds that had limited egress made for shooting fish in a barrel as the hellish acts of murder were rained down on the victims...  :(

I believe the essential problem is that many of us trust absolutely nothing coming from the government. If they'll lie sometimes then it's impossible to tell when they are and when they are not. So, as a result of the government's own perfidy, everything coming from it at any level is presumed to be dishonest - and probably is. Once trust is lost it's all but impossible to regain.

What Rick R said. From some accounts he was disgruntled and hated life/the world, at least when intoxicated. He probably didn't hate a particular group/person. He probably hated the world and everyone. He went out with the biggest adrenaline rush of his life. Not hard for me to understand, many people, not just this guy are evil.

If you are spraying with a bump stock, you can use that red dot just fine. There would have probably been more dead if (assuming he was well trained, which I am not) he skipped the bump stock and used a good magnified scope. Maybe or maybe not as many injured, but there could have easily been many more dead.

Several people did notice the windows being broken as the broken glass fell onto the valet parking. They noticed, saw the fire coming from the window above and helped the police identify the floor/room it was coming from.

just saw a report that said that the silencer bill has been pulled, it also ran into a speed bump when the day it was supposed to be voted on ended in the government baseball game shooting

lots of conspiracy theories floating around--- not enough factual data to make a clear opinion yet though

I have heard a second hand report that he was also shooting at his car, parked in the valet lot near the airport, but visible from his room.  The car was loaded with 90 lbs of tannerite.

If true, it explains that his main objective may have been to herd people towards the parking lots, then detonate his car and any fuel trucks nearby at the airport.  Fortunately the 5.56 and 308 are marginal velocity at the range he was shooting to set off tannerite, especially after having to penetrate a car.

This would also explain why he stopped when he did.  Once he realized he couldn't get the bomb to go off, he realized he couldn't escape in the confusion the bomb would cause.  So he ended it.

So, when was the last time that the Sheriff of the LVMPD lied to you? If you really believe what you wrote, sounds like it would be better to remove your TV, radio, and computer so as to avoid all those lies being transmitted to you through the airwaves as the evil FCC controls all the false information being transmitted such as weather reports like those falsely reporting hurricanes causing fake property damage in TX, LA, FL, and Puerto Rico. Who do you think the President of the United States is, since you can't trust any government entity such as the Federal Election Committee or any state election commissions.  Delusional paranoia runs deep here.

As does normalcy bias and pigheaded stubbornness. You are free to believe whatever gibberish you choose to as I am free to disregard "information" from a biased source that I do not believe to be trustworthy. To each his or her own.

This....is why I don't watch Fox News.

And why I felt the Daily Show with Jon Stewart was one of the best news outlets around.

1.  Jon never pretended to be fair, balanced

2.  He had guest from both sides of the aisle, and all the spots in between

3.  He never missed a chance to make fun things, right or left

4.  His satire was often very relevant

5.  He was honest about being entertainment first

I don't watch the news at all.  I don't go to "news" websites unless it is in the context of research, usually to see what stupid thing they said.  I do listen to a talk radio show each morning during my 15 minute commute to the office.  My commute aligns with a feature of three of the dumbest/most bothersome things that happened the day before, which actually keeps me pretty informed.  I do get news "alerts" on my phone from the local newspaper, which contain a 1 sentence summary of the item.  I dismiss them 99% of the time.

I am amazed at how much better informed I am not than I was when I watched the news.  At least about things that do really matter.  I have grown used to reading sources, comments and fact checking things that actually matter.  And since I am usually at my computer when I do learn about something, I am better equipped to immediately reach out to my legislators or other relevant parties about the issue.  With research and facts to support my thoughts.

Sorry, but Jon Stewart never informed me of anything but the mindless drivel of snarky leftists.

The Official story doesn't add up with me either.  Just my opinion. Now I will get back to choosing my 10 carry ammo. :(
