SR1911 Firing pin

I was noticing some primer flow with handloads and some factory rounds in my SR1911. Loads were under max and this occurred with Winchester,  CCI and S&B large pistol primers. Primers were still round edged and primer pockets still tight over several firings.

Ruger uses a titanium firing pin as a drop safety measure and I dimly remembered some ancient lore about Ti pins causing odd stuff to happen.  Some Google Fu showed it as a possible problem.

Today I swapped out the OEM pin for a SS pin I had in my aborted 10mm comp gun build and Voila! the primer strikes now look much more normal.   I'll just need to be mindful not to drop my pistol muzzle first off of a second story roof onto concrete too often.   :o
